Does hitting 12 vs dealer 4 raise any red flags with casino? Especially if I am making more advanced plays like hitting A7 vs 9, 10 and doubling A9 vs 6?
12 vs 4, yes, get ready for the heat, mostly from other players. I do it rather often as I play all a lot,,,always raises eyebrows,,,gotta do it in a play all, for sure.
Of course when called for....................not just because you feel like it,,,DIG???

I agree with Ouchez. Same with 12 vs. 6 which has the same index in S17. Most players consider hitting these hands absolutely inconceivable. I have had them stare at me and ask me completely seriously and politely why I would hit this hand. I suppose because they generally see me as a player who plays his hands correctly. The question kind of puts me in a tough spot. I certainly can not give them the correct answer. I say something about it being a close call and how much I hate getting 12s in the first place.
Instead of playing 100% BS/Index strategy as soon as possible, it might be (and is, actually) worthwhile to oftentimes ponder a second or two before hitting or staying on your hand.

Just do it. You're betting a low amount and nobody cares at that point...if you piss off other players good, maybe they will leave. If you look sharp while doing it you're table comportment is all screwed up. You should use those plays as a chance to cultivate the reputation of being a moron.
I've always been wired a bit on the anxious side and I only have reasonable access to 2 shops in my area. Getting BO would really limit my ability to play.
I usually do a play all style, so hitting 12v4 comes into play very often for me at an index of 0-. Since I generally have a minimum bet out at that point I don't hit for fear of drawing attention. However, from your comments, it sounds like I should try to work it into my routine.
Thanks for feedback guys.
I think Freightman Was trying to say that those plays were not consider normal for the average player so they only played by the competent players/counters/Aps? Doubling A/8 vs 6 and hitting A/7 vs 9,10,A are of course Basic Strategy. I learn most of my stuff from your book Mr. Don S. ,I am just saying Freightman probably mean it in a different way.I am sure you know that, but is just trying to catch is misuse of words. I rarely see a player that know basic strategy down pat.Not even once ,the player mistakenly split 6/6 vs 7 in a h17 ,das game(the count does not call for the play either) which was his only mistake.
