    Blame it on the a-a-a-a-a-alcohol

With regards to some aspects of cover, I have a disadvantage. I do not drink any alcohol. And from what I've heard, that's a typical characteristic of a counter.

I know I can get non-alcoholic beer, but I'm not sure that's cover.

What can I do to look tipsy or buzzed? Am I allowed to bring my own "beer" into the casino?

If you don't want to post the info in public, you can PM me if you like.

    MD,

I suggest you hone your SKILLZ, and stop worrying about what you will or will not be drinking, FWIW, I drink coffee at the table.

    Best,

Coffee or any drink, really. Gin & tonics are usually pretty weak. You don't need to be or act drunk. Be obnoxious. Loud. Crazy. Grab your cards (or with two hands in pitch). Try to double down for more. Although it's a bit mean, you can get mad at the dealer when he kills you.

    Or start chewing tobacco.

However, chewing tobacco is probably not a good idea. Throat cancer is a very negative EV play!

Act like you're semi new to blackjack. Ask questions. About chip colors, etc. How much theyve seen people win. Just seem like you dont have a clue and money means nothing to you.

Ofcourse that wont do much when the eye in the sky is watching you.

Pretending to be new can be difficult, especially if you're playing heads up (you wanna get as many hands/hour as possible). Not to mention, if you're a returning/frequent customer and/or are already known at that property. I much prefer the "educated ploppy" or "wannabe counter" route. Explain how H17 gives the player a better edge than S17 because the dealer will bust more often in H17. You sound like a wannabe who thinks he knows what he's doing. The dealer has an edge because he almost always gets 20, giving the bad cards to the player (ie: flow).

Do NOT try to act like an "educated ploppy" as anyone who

acts or looks half-smart will be presumed capable of card counting.

Do not refer to a Basic Strategy card at the table.

When you violate B. S. you will give yourself away !

re: alcohol Some casinos dress up their drinks with different

colored swizzle sticks, so that the pit / surveillance knows that

your Bloody Mary is really a "virgin" Bloody Mary sans vodka.

Camouflage hinges on your acting ability. Many counters are

introverted obsessive-compulsive characters who cannot act.

The most important route to "longevity" at the blackjack tables

is to use a polite spread, not play for too long, or too often on

a given shift, and toking very small but very often. That leaves

right impression. I play for $25 to $100 minimums and my

tokes are frequent at the $1 level and sparse at the $5 level.

Does surveillance not think counters chew?

Several of the casinos I go to serve alcoholic drinks in a shorter glass and non-alcoholic drinks in taller glasses so it is obvious. I don't pretend to drink when I play but I try to play early in the morning when I can get a table to myself. Who is drinking at 8 am unless you are a raging alchy? I will have a coffee or a redbull and talk about how hammered I got last night acting a little hung over.

All of your posts that I have read provide straight-to-the point (sometimes succinct, sometimes detailed), and very informative answers.

Thanks for helping me and other newbies get a little better at this endeavor.

BTW, what is a "polite" spread for DD and 6D?

This is completely stupid, most casino employees wouldn't know you were wrong, the ones who do will know you're bull****ting just by watching the way you play. I would have thought this would be likely to lessen your longevity, not lengthen it.
