Red face CVBJ Drills: How fast is good enough? (for a newbie)

    Good day to all!

I am a newbie and want to use CVBJ Drills before going live in the casino. I haven't finalized whether to use REKO-F, KO-Full or Hi-Lo.
    __

What CVBJ & CVDrills tests and thresholds should I shoot for?

What speed is good enough*? What accuracy is good enough*?

    * = Before actual field trials flat-betting table minimums while trying to keep count, deck estimate, and maybe doing TC calculation.

    Thanks,
    MD

You want perfection and to keep up with a typical game 30 seconds counting down a deck is fast enough. It is really good to be as fast as possible heads up without compromising accuracy. A good player can burn through shoes heads up as fast as the dealer can deal. You can get many shoes in in the same time to get 1 shoe with others at the table. A good dealer will find the speed that you keep up at and deal at that speed.

Thanks, Tthree! I see a lot of very good info in your posts.

i am not that fast at counting , but they sent out the fastest they have and I strained her shoulder( she was messaging it after 45 mins.) ,then another dealer just couldn't handle it.As for me i finally got burnt out after 2 fast dealers , I needed to take a break . I still want to trained to be fast like some folks here!

    Thanks, SG!

So, with 100% accuracy, what speed is fast enough to start actual play (flat-bet table minimum)? 1 deck in 60 secs? 1 deck in 45 secs?

BTW, why did they send out their fastest dealers? Is that a precursor before being backed off?

Although its probably just based on feel or opinion, most blackjack works that quote a number seem to quote thirty seconds or less (if my memory serves correct.)

Some say that counting a deck is not an important indicator, but with that said, it seems to me at least that 45 or 60 seconds is MUCH too slow for casino play.

If one keeps at it, they'll get that speed down to 20 (and less) seconds easy, and although people differ in their opinions, I can't help but to feel that is a great indicator of how naturally and easily your brain is processing the cards.

With that said, I think most would agree that counting down decks should only be one of many drills.

There are a few different ways to count down a deck and they yield different times so it's comparing apples to oranges. Are penalty seconds added when the count is off?

You should be able to count down a deck without errors.

Yes you should. Accuracy then speed.
