What Are Good New Player Resources?

I started playing Blackjack recreationally during the past 6 months. The tables I've played at in San Diego and Tunica are H17. I've had postive results and prefer to play at the double deck tables.

I would like to pick up a good book on strategy and AP. Where can I go to do some studying? I want to learn the basic play strategies so I can stop asking other players when to double, hit, or split.

    Thanks in advance,
    Jason

Good starting books are Blackbelt in Blackjack and Blackjack Bluebook II.

There is no more invaluable book resource than Blackjack Attack by Don S.....it is THE bible for BJ players and worth 10x every other book ever publishes on BJ COMBINED...after you get your feet wet and build your BK up....get Norm's CVCX and you'll have the best two BJ sources on the market

I wouldn't consider Blackjack Attack to be a book to get started with, I think the OP would be better off with Blackbelt in Blackjack or Blackjack Blueprint to get his feet wet.

Blackjack Attack is a classic but it is not an introductory book. Imo Modern Blackjack is the best book that discusses the various aspects of contemporary blackjack games

Go to BJINFO and search books there are tons of threads and discussions on them. Then when you have your feet wet and are ready start looking for the less talked about ones with substance!

As another new player, I'll second Modern Blackjack, by our webmaster. It's available for free right here at http://qfit.com/book/index.htm.

Thanks for the suggestions. I saw a couple are available via Kindle, so I'm starting with Modern Blackjack and Blackjack Blueprint.

Having had so much success with this counting system, l suggest a good starting point for a newbie would be Knockout. The KO unbalanced system is completely explained in this book, and a fledgling new player can be up and running in no time using this easier than pie system. Then if you want to progress to more difficult counts, you will have a good grounding in the fundamentals of card counting, which can be transferred in large part to whatever system you choose. Good variance and good cards!

    What sensitive info? My name?

I'll check out KO too. Simple is good. I'm content with knowing basic book play for now. I would probably mess up any sort of AP without lots of practice.

KO comes in "blocks" too. One size fits all BS and incremental levels of difficulty, starting with Rookie, that mesh fairly simply...

KO may not be the most powerful, but it's not rocket science. That suits me just fine.

If you do choose KO, you might want to follow that up with The Color of Blackjack by Daniel Dravot.
