Played in my first tournament tonight.

Got eliminated in the first round. lol I was actually ahead just before the end. Then lost 4 - 5 hands in a row.

Yeah but I'm an agnostic. Does it still work?

Interesting. Have you researched tournament play at all, or did you just dive in? From what I understand, you can gain a hefty edge against the general public by grazing the books by Wong and Ken Smith. I never had any interest in BJ tourneys until recently. There's one in my neighborhood held weekly. It's slightly negative equity, but the regular players are Lawrence Welk rejects.

Chalk it up as gaining experience. There is a lot of luck involved, especially in the last five hands. Just make sure you are making the right bets according to your and your opponents stack, leave the rest up the blackjack gods :-)
Don't judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes, by then you are a mile away and have his shoes.

I just played my first tourney at the Gold Nugget in Vegas. I didn't win (it was probably one of you on this board) but I had a great time. Got to try out a new spot I was hoping to check out and loved it. It was the El Cortez and I know I'll head back there to play a little 21 again. Looked pretty dumpy so I'm sure I'll still gamble at the Venetian enough to my free rooms coming.
