    Just for fun?

I noticed that on Yahoo! Blackjack (capitalized?) it's possible to count cards, and, though -most- of us count because we want to get paid, it's also fun to have that 'beat-the-system' feeling. Unfortunately, the northwestern region of the States doesn't have much to offer APers (mebbe some SP21 though!) and my 'bankroll' went to bills and a credit card a while back, so I thought I could treat Yahoo!'s game like a practice software game; I have Casino Verite, but I'm not competing with others in the ranks on that like in Yahoo!, so there's some reason for another choice. Yahoo! says they consider card counting to be cheating, which seems dumb, but we're competing with ploppies for ranking, so I suppose it's understandable. Obviously, STing, card steering and hole-carding are a bit... impossible on Yahoo! but the fact that counting works is kinda cool! Anyone ever try this?

Indeed, when I was first starting out, I used Yahoo! blackjack for practice. I would bet $1 when at a disadvantage and the max ($1000) when at an advantage. I got a lot of jeers from folks who saw me betting $1. All I needed to do was to point out my running total which was many thousands above the starting bankroll while they were all thousands in the negative. Some of them still didn't get it and thought that I got there $1 at a time
