    Outdoor blackjack

How the heck does that work? Have heard of the revel doing this.

Is it a slower game? Do they use little brackets to hold down the cards? Any tips or stuff to look for?

Just found out my local store offers this game. Wanted to see what experiences the crew here has with outdoor blackjack.

Be careful. Usually the rules are worse and the games are slower. You are "paying" for the privilege of being outside and/or having a dealer in a bikini.

Is this like swim-up / poolside blackjack? From what I've seen, terrible rules, min and max bets have a small spread (like 10-100).

That's a pity, cos I would like to play outdoors. Found this image recently,
don't know where it is (does it call "Golden Nugget"?) but seems to be poolside:

with H17 rule printed on the felt, but no payoff for blackjacks.
Probably it's 6:5 or Even Money then?
At least Insurance still pays 2:1 and not 6:5 ;-)

That very well could be the Golden Nugget. It looks like it, at least what I'd imagine it'd be from the outside (I've only been on the inside, looking out). Looks like a guy's arm (dealer) in that picture....which is kinda weird....normally they have barbie-type girls dealing with skimpy outfits.

Good catch. For some reason I was trying to read the spot at third base....didn't even look at the closer spots. LOL.

They are using wire on the table to keep cards in place.

Not long ago, when The Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood FL was still dealing a playable S17 game; weather permitting, at night, they had a (shaded) BJ pit of sorts, (outside their 96 table Poker Room), laid out horizontally, with NO E.I.T.S. The only difference was that the table max was modest. Memory suggests that there were 8 tables. It was very pleasant.

    No wires used]

I was more distracted by the player :-) Btw. she should take more care of her handbag. Saw the "Golden Nugget" logos on the table but the picture is a bit low-res, therefore wasn't sure.

I often exercise bj outdoors and also have the wind problem. Sometimes I lay stones on the cards or fix them under the dealer shoe, chips, leather cases for playing cards or books. But this is of course very tedious and time-consuming.

    Btw the article says
"Unbeknownst to the players and casino personnel, the games were played in April with decks that were sent unshuffled by the manufacturer. Players upped their bets as they detected a pattern in the hands, winning more than $1.5 million...
A judge said that the players did nothing wrong
    ...
On Friday, the owner of the Golden Nugget said he would pay the gamblers their disputed winnings and turn his legal attention instead to the Kansas City card manufacturer that provided unshuffled decks for the mini-baccarat games."

But I thought the cards are always sent unshuffled by the manufacturer (in the order twice A,2,3,...,9,10,J,Q,K and then twice K,Q,J,10,9,...,3,2,A, the ace of spades being the first card, if I remember correctly). This is the order they appear when you remove the cellophane wrapping and seal from a brand new deck of cards. So it's the casino's duty to shuffle them before putting them to first use, isn't it?

Yes, seems to be so. I just was astonished that the casino didn't break up this order by shuffling or "washing" them before dealing the first shoe. A few years ago I read John May's book "Baccarat for the Clueless" which maybe described this order, but don't exactly remember. Found this book not very helpful cos it describes the baccarat rules well but its "advantage play" methods often relied on obsolete and unrealistic assumptions, such as dealing the shoe till only 10 or fewer cards are left.
