I'm just learning Renzey's Mentor Count found in BJBBII, and I wish to know how it fares against Zen and RPC in 5 deck ENHC games. Unfortunately CVCX cannot run sims with 5 decks.
Thanks for your replies.

I ran some quick sims on the Mentor count when I read Fred's book. I didn't run ENHC, and of course no 5 deck sims (DD & 6D only), but in every sim I ran, the Mentor count came out on top against both Zen and RPC, albeit by a small, insignificant margin.
I concluded that for all practical purposes, these counts perform about the same (with UBZ2 close behind). I would expect the results to be similar in a 5D ENHC game.
I was impressed with the Mentor count.
It would be also interesting to know how TC UBZII performs. Would it be worthwile to TC this unbalanced count?

Which Mentor count are you referring to? I was also impressed with Mentor's level-3 count but not so with Mentor's level-2. Mentor III is indeed very powerful. Mentor II is however better than UBZ2, TKO, Hi-Lo/A and many other level-1 counts.
Note: All my sims were run in 6D.
Sincerely,
Cac

I referred to Mentor level 2 as provided for in Blackjack Book II. What are the card valued for Mentor level 3?

P.S. I made a quick scan of level 3 counts and found the follwing:
A=-2 ; 2,3 & 7 = 2 ; 4,5 & 6 = 3; 9= -1; T = -3
BC = 0.983
PE = 0.615
IC = 0.806
Is this the Mentor level 3 count?

Mentor III:
A 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 T
-2 2 2 3 3 3 2 0 -1 -3
Yes, that's it.

I still believe that Mentor level 2 with a beting side count (A=-1; 5=+1) is still stronger than Mentor level 3.

Don't know what is better but the thing is that adding a secondary count makes things more complex.

I agree. The betting side count is only for those who master completely Mentor 2. This brings me back to my main question. Would you advise me to keep mentor 2 count or switch to Zen or RPC for 5 deck shoe games?
Thanks in advance for your reply.

Mentor II is pretty close to RPC so If I were you I wouldn't make any change.
Sincerely,
Cac
