    Wolverine: Desk estimation question

Norm and others, I have set up my CVBJ to use the indices generated for the specific game I am playing. I have set up my bet schedules as well. Errors are reported when made. Very helpful for practice. I love it.

However, I am having trouble setting up the TC Calc section of the settings menu to match the casino conditions I play under. I play MGM style DD games (60% pen) so I only use 3 TC points of calculation (2 decks, 1-1/2 decks, and 1 deck remaining) when playing in a casino. I was near the cut card and my last bet was given an error because the RC was 2 and I was dividing by 1 deck for a TC of 2. I bet the correct amount for a TC of 2 and the TRAY information claimed a TC of 4. I realize that the CVBJ was calculating this by using an RC of 2 with 1/2 deck remaining, making it a TC of 4. That doesn't bother me, except that there were probably 40+ cards remaining and that isn't a 1/2 deck remaining as I normally calculate in the real world.

I have the following setting used now: 1/2 deck resolution and ROUNDING. That seemed like the same way I look at my 2, 1-1/2, 1 deck TC divisor, but obviously I am confused. Do I need to use the TRUNCATE function of calculation to achieve the divisors I am looking for? I also have the desk estimate accuracy set to 6 cards, so it shouldn't be overly nit-picky in these broad groups of 2, 1-1/2, and 1 deck. [As I am proof reading this post, I guess it is fair to say that I start off conservative and divide my RC by 2 until I am at 1/2 deck gone, divide by 1-1/2 from here until I start dividing by 1 when I am very close to 1 deck remaining (certainly LESS THAN 60 cards to be dealt) so the 1-1/2 divisor gets "squeezed" just a little bit.]

I should say by nature, I am a conservative player. I like to see a 1/2 deck gone before I start to divide by 1-1/2 and I like to be pretty close to 1 deck before I start converting my RC into a TC. I am far too conservative to double up a running count (by dividing by a 1/2 deck remaining) with more than 30 cards left to deal. Since I can't make a bet under the 60% penetration rule stated above with 30 cards or less, the 1/2 deck divisor shouldn't happen to me. Please help. Thanks.

    Wolverine: follow up

I have changed my settings to TRUNCATE and it seems to be estimating the TC closer to my casino methods posted above. Thanks for any responses that come along. I'd still like to understand the options better. Thanks.

    1. Using non-formulaic techniques like this are not exactly supported by CV. They are supported by CVCX and CVData and that code will be moved into CVBJ in V4.

    2. When you are signaled with an error during play, if you have Play Correctoin allowed on, you can click on the small gold ? in the lower left. Then click on the TC Calcs button. This will allow you to change all of the TC calculatin techniques on the fly with the reults for teh current penetration changing dynamically as you watch. This may help you come up with better settings.

    3. You can also use the Deck Estimate Accuracy option on Options-Setting TC Calc to handle the border conditions better. This will change errors to warnings if your deck estimate is off by under the specified number of cards.
