FLASH: Consensual Validation Sought
I had thought that I posted this here, but ...
Backed off at the Wynn yesterday.
2 deck, S17, DAS, face up, $100-$10,000 Bet any no. of spots at any time. Mid round entry IS permitted ! I even "Wonged-in-place" several times.
I was fine for 5 days spreading 5-1 in the shadow of rich ploppies betting multiple spots of 5K and 10K and toking yellow $1,000 checks!
Increasing my hours and my spread bought me a tap on the shoulder.
Here is my issue: I cannot trust my own eyes! There is a cut-card and a notch on the discard tray that is so very low that I was stunned when I first sat down. It appeard to be only 1/4 deck cut off, perhaps 16 - 18 cards. Is that plausible? I am hoping that others who have seen, if not played, this game will confirm / deny this.
Meanwhile, here is a fascinating website that addresses the awe-inspiring daily toke rate at the WYNN

FLASH: Dismayed by lack of a single response.
I find it disheartening that not a single reply to my post re: "Consensual Validation Sought" is to be found. It certainly appears to me to contain a very legitimate and thought-provoking question.
Perhaps it is time to let my subscription expire.

The only response I can give you is that I have friends who have played at Wynn, but most avoid the DD game like the plague, as what they consider to be a counter-trap. Those who have watched it tell me that they see a cut of about 70-75%, which is also consistent with Wong's CBJN, which notes 70%.
It's hard to respond to a question like yours, because you saw whatever you saw, but I assure you that it is NOT the norm.

I did not previously respond to this because I have not visited the Wynn since around mid-March.
However, when it first opened I counted down several of the double deck games. In every one that I counted, the cut card came out at 71-75 cards. I did not count down every DD table in the casino, and none in the high limit room, but felt I had a pretty representative sampling.
The slots in the discard trays seemed to be consistently placed, varying by only a few cards from one table to the next. I also noted that the dealer could influence this a small amount by the manner in the pack was held in the tray when inserting the cut card.
When I last visited in March, I observed a few cuts, counted down a couple, played a bit, and concluded that conditions were essentially unchanged.
While this is good penetration, and certainly better than the norm in Las Vegas these days, I did not observe what you described.
Also, Wynn has brought in a number of very experienced counter-catchers from other properties. Having a known face will get you tossed a lot more quickly than playing an agressive game. As you mention, there is a lot of big action.
