bjburnout: practical considerations when creating an alias

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum so I apologize if this topic has already been covered.

I have resisted the urge to get a player's card at my usual BJ shops for a while now, but I am tired of the heat I get for playing at the green level when I don't have one (plus it wouldn't hurt to get comped for my hard work).

So I have decided to give in and create an alias but I was wondering what all your experiences were with them.

I read up on the legal issues involved in it (ie can't replicate a govt issued ID) but I was wondering how most APers handle the practical issues of creating an alias.

Initially, I had intended to use a completely bogus address but I am now thinking that this could cause some serious problems:

1) I would never receive mailed comp offers from my casinos (boo!)
2) I would't receive credit card statements under the assumed name/address
3) Casino/credit card company would eventually wizen up to the fact that the address was fake.

So, some alternatives...

Use a friend or relative's address. I'm fine with this but my cousin might get a little tired of receiving ten letters a month addressed to John Smith. Of course, I would hook him up with some RFB for the effort.

Get a P.O. box under the assumed name. A pain in the arse but maybe the best choice?

Check out the catalog link above and buy one of the Paper Chase books for some practical advice on aliases and IDs. The discussion on this topic in an open forum will be minimal due to the lurking casino personnel and the legality of what you are talking about.

I would be very careful in this arena until you have done your homework. This can get you into hotter water than being asked to "not play 21."

Thanks Wolverine. I have no intentions of doing anything illegal (which is why I am trying to get as much info on the subject as I can before doing anything)

I used an alias for awhile a decade ago by purchasing false I.D. (with MY home address) I ran into SERIOUS problems when casino staff recognized me under TWO names !!!!!!

This is really not a great idea, unless you are certain that your photo is hanging in numerous surveillance rooms.

Get yourself a legitimate players card.

1) When you set up your accn't transfer your fake address to your real one. I use a different name for each casino and I play a lot of them. Never a problem.

3) Never happened to me yet. One caveat is to do another change of address with a dirty name to anywhere USA.
