    Wolverine: AGA Brochure

In a brochure entitled "The House Advantage: A guide to understanding the odds" the very first paragraph reads as follows:

"Whether you play slots, craps, blackjack, roulette, or any other game in a casino, it is important to remember that games of chance are based on random outcomes and always favor the casino. These games of chance are a form of entertainment, at a price to you, the player. Casino gaming should not be considered a way for you to make money."

Funny, some of my ?friends? on this site have managed to make a nice living playing blackjack, or at the very least, enjoy a great ?additional income? by playing.

On page 3, in a paragraph concerning SKILL at the games played:

"Skill: The chances of winning are maximized when games involving an element of skill (in playing or betting) -- such as blackjack or video poker -- are played at the highest level. However, with few exceptions, it's important to remember that the house continues to have a statistical advantage in every play of every game, even against a skillful player."

Where is the sentence mentioning that card counting can swing the odds into a player?s favor? If they don?t think this is true, then why do we get barred?

And while that last one was entertaining, the last paragraph of the pamphlet reads as follows:

?While some people believe that casinos can ?rig? slot machines and other games, the reality is that the actions of this and every other casino in the United States are tightly controlled by regulatory agencies, which ensure that all the games are fair and determined by chance. Slot machines must meet stringent technical and operating standards, including specific payout percentages, before they ever reach the casino floor.?

Right, they only ?rig? the game of blackjack so that skillful players can?t USE their skill. Therefore, games that are ?fair and determined by chance? are only for those that don?t exhibit any skill whatsoever.

The website you may visit to see more of this ridiculousness is americangaming.org.

Thought you all might enjoy a laugh?ha ha! Let's go kick some casino butt!

    FLASH: Blackjack Brochure

Perhaps there should be a slim brochure presenting the facts of casino '21' to the ploppies who are functionally literate and marginally numerate.

There could be such data as: the dealer's bust percentages, the player's Win, Push, and Lose percentages, and a reasonably correct generic Basic Strategy. Perhaps even a pithy caveat concerning the "beatability" of '21' ~ relative to other popular casino games including carnival games like Carribean Stud Poker and Keno.

Nice to see youon the boards again Flash. I've lost track of what is happening with casinos in the Catskills (Monticello?) and the rest of NY for the matter. Can you give me an update. ?

You might want to visit TS. They took out all their hole card readers very recently and the dealers are peeking under aces and tens.

    FLASH: Hi Jake

I saw no readable dealers (this week); although morale is down,as the floor supervisors are hectoring the dealers into becoming good "peekers" A consideration is that the extreme contortions the dealers are practicing to peek is certainly slowing down the game. 39% of the hands are delayed thusly. T.S. completed the lease on the readers. They have ordered new ones (The same as the ones at Mohegan Sun that have red and green l.e.d.'s) but the company is backordred.

re: new casinos planned for downstate -- they are off the table once again. Absolutely no lobbying efforts, publicity, etc.

Now that the weather is so fine I will take a drive up to Akwesasne pretty soon.

email me if you are going to be at T.S. anytime soon. I will be in Vegas in late April.
