Don Schlesinger: John Auston is moving on

John Auston has recently requested that we excuse him from the Masters of Blackjack panel, and, of course, we shall honor that request.

In the past year or so, John has found it increasingly more difficult to maintain his passion for blackjack, and he has turned his attention to studying and playing poker, as well as to spending more time with his family.

I would like to personally thank John for the magnificent contributions that he has made to these and other pages and to our knowledge of blackjack over the past eight years. His "World's Greatest Blackjack Simulation," created for the first edition of BJA, will forever remain, in my opinion, as one of the greatest pieces of blackjack research of all time.

Of course, John is not going anywhere, and I am sure that we shall continue to hear from him, from time to time. Please join me in wishing him well in his future endeavors.

All I can say is that many years ago when I was disgusted and getting ready to give blackjack up.

One day I posted something in here and john answered it.

For him, i'm sure it was just responding to a post. To me, it made all the differnce in the world and resurrected my hunger to learn more.

I think it's safe to say that with the exception of a couple of other people, John was more responsible for my kicking the casino's asses then anyone.

    John I thank you,

And I truly wish you luck in whatever you choose.

but I guess it is just a part of life and maturing, that our interests change and we move on to new areas to explore.

    Farewell John.

    Thanks for the kind words!

Though I do spend FAR more time on poker than BJ these days, I'll still be around on the boards now and then - just can't put near enough time to feel comfortable being called one of the "Masters" on this board.

The poker forum is sort of linked to the Parker Pages, meaning that if you have created a profile for the Parker Pages you will need to use your Parker Pages password in order to post on the Poker Forum with that username.

You have created profiles for both "John Auston" (with a space) and "JohnAuston" (no space).

I cannot read passwords but I can change them. If you have forgotten what password you used, e-mail me and I'll assign you a new one (which you can then change, if you like).
