Hollywood: Question?
Recently while playing in AC, the same thing happened to me and card at 2 different clubs.
The first one I can understand, which was them telling me that I could only play $5.00 to $50.00 even though I was sitting at a $100.00 minimum table.
I have been told on more then one occasion this is allowed, as long as they offer me a 10 times spread.
But the 2nd thing I would like to ask about is this.
On 2 occasions, they came over to me and told me I was no longer allowed to play 2 hands.
They did the same thing to card the other night.
Does anybody know if they are allowed to do that?
Curious,

They could have told you that you could only play $5 to $5!! They were being generous. :-)

No, not true. No such rule. They can set any max-bet limit they choose for you, including the same as the table min, which means that you have to flat bet.

Never heard of this one. Usually, the only restriction to play two hands is that each be double the table minimum. Additionally, they can ask you not to play two hands at a full table, where so doing prevents another player from joining the game, but even that is rather unusual.

NJ Casinos have placed me on this same $5. to $50 betting spread many many times. When this initially occurred, I made inquiries at the Casino Control Commission and was assured this counter measure was within the Gaming Commission Rules citing:
NJAC 19:47-8.2a "any required minimum wager of $100.00 or less which has corresponding payout odds of five to one or less shall be required to have a maximum wager which is at least 10 times the amount of the minimum wager."
The interesting thing is that once they place the additonal 5/50 placard on the table next to the original 100/3000 sign and state that this limit pertains to you, then they ask every other player at the table if they wish to have permission to bet in accordance with the original 100/3000 limit sign.
During my discussion with the CCC, I was advised that once the 5/50 sign is placed next to the 100/3000 sign then anyone at the table or a new player coming to the table may exercise the option to play at the lower limits but may not switch back and forth between the two betting limit signs. The CCC Officer also stated that even if I left that table, the Casino would have to give a 1/2 hour notice to the seated players before removing the 5/50 sign unless all players at the table agreed to removing it immediately. So in essense, if a $5 player stumbled into the high limit pit and decided to play, he would be allowed to play at the lower limit for 1/2 hour even if you left the table.

This has been addressed many times thru complaints filed with the CCC and was also cited in the Campione vs Trop World case.
N.J.A.C. 19:47-2.14 provides as follows: "A player may only wager on one box at a blackjack table unless the casino licensee, in its discretion, permits the player to wager on additional boxes."
So when a player begins betting on more than 1 spot, the casino's silence creates the assumption that you have their permission unless they specifically say you can only wager on one box.

Then please allow me to ask one more question.
If a casino comes over to me and tells me I am only allowed to play one spot. What would happen if the person next to me decided to play 2 spots.? Can they stop me and allow that person?
Thanks,

Yes they can legally allow the person next to you to play 2 or even 3 spots while restricting you to 1 spot. I know what you're thinking, but I've been there, done that and Kenneth Doss at the Casino Control Commission ruled against me years ago on the issue.
