    Don Schlesinger: To mr k

    Mr. K,

It was suggested that we delete your recent message, since the feeling was that it might serve both to get the dealer mentioned in trouble and would almost certainly lead to the end of the opportunity described, should a casino representative read it.

This falls into the "damned if you, damned if you don't" category, but in this case, we decided that discretion was the better part of valor.

    Thank you for understanding.

    Don

Understandable...hope those who read the post can make use of it...and for the record the name in " " was a generic name...

Wow. It's so nice in here.

I never got that kind of treatment on the Parker Pages when my stuff got deleted. They just disappeared somewhere into the night !?!

Glad Mr. K is a resonable ole' soul.

So Don is a nicer guy than I am.

I have no problem with that. :-)

Seriously, my policy on the Parker Pages is that "Why was post deleted?" is not an appropriate topic for discussion.

However, I am always more than happy to discuss my reasons for deleting a post, with the poster or anyone else, via e-mail. Surprisingly (or maybe not), very few people actually take me up on this.

It's a different universe on a paid subscription members-only board.

I would think that if you delete anyone's messages, common courtesy would be for YOU to email the poster as to why.

Many times, they will NOT email you and ask for a reason, but make an unfounded assumption instead.

I used to operate a board where I had to do the deleting, and I always found it best to send off a short reason to the poster. That usually was sufficient and we moved on.

Occasionally I do this, especially if I feel that the poster was well-intentioned.

Keep in mind, however, that an e-mail address is not required in order to post on the Parker Pages, and quite often one is not supplied. Not surprisingly, this happens often on posts that are obvious candidates for deletion.

I actually don't delete many posts, and most of the ones I do are no-brainers: thinly disquised plugs for online casinos, voodoo system sellers, and obvious flames/personal attacks.

Once in a while things get out of hand and I end up nuking an entire thread. I simply do not have the time to write and explain what happened to everyone involved in the thread.
