    The Prince: Many Thanks

Hey guys, thanks for all your comments in regards to my "A day at the casino". It's nice to have somone to talk to about these things that know something about the game (friends and family who don't know much about your "world" just don't do the trick sometimes, ya know?).
If this was a "tattle-tale" counter, I get the impression this isn't a very frequent occurence, and it is unfortunate that something like this should happen to me so early on in my career.

Bfbagain, in regards to your questions, and for anyone else who would like to examine the situation and offer advice:

I had been at that table for one and a half shoes. That day I was mainly practicing counting, figuring out the feel of it; good places to stand, how to fit in with the casual observers. I know the fact that I'm a beginner may raise doubts and questions, but I can say with genuine honesty that I was doing a pretty good job of looking normal. Plus there was another guy standing by me and observing at the non-blackjack table, not to mention the many observers scattered throughout the casino. I think my weak point may have been looking too long and focusing to intently with a turned head each time the cards were dealt. That would be my best guess is that the guy got lucky enough to notice that I just happened to be watching the cards each time they were dealt. Plus he may have picked up on my pattern of looking at the table, looking away, looking at the table, etc. Plus, as Don said in the table hopping section of BJA, "Do you think there's a counter who I couldn't spot in five seconds flat" (something like that, I don't have the book with me).

The casino was in the midwest, and was pretty good size for this area.

    Thanks
    The Prince

bfbagain: OK. A better question (s)

What was the table min and maximums? What stakes was the guy playing? Was he at third or first base? Were you only backcounting for one and half shoes, or were you actually playing at the table for 1 1/2 shoes? Or played first then bacckcounted. I guess I was confused about that aspect.

I'm assuming it was a roulette table that you were standing by. And one last question. Are there other casinos that you can visit within a 100 miles? That's it. Please only answer the casino ? with a yes or no, no other details are needed.

    cheers

PS. I'm probably going to give a different take than what others have offered. But your answers will help me to determine that.
