    bfbagain: Surveillance Board

    Warning! Warning! Warning!

Please do not CLICK on this link! Only copy the link. Also, if you feel safe, i.e., you don't care if your IP address is tracked, which, btw, you should be....but, if not, then paste the link into a new browser window.

Personally, I'd recommend an anonymous browser for this, as this is EXACTLY why you want to use an anonymous browser, for situations just like this.

This is a surveillance message board for surveillance types. One of the first posters was old MB himself, which is all you need to know.

These people are scary. It takes a real different breed, one where all semblance of reality is distorted, to be a paranoid casino executive or a gung-ho surveillance type.

Anyways. Caveat Emptor. Here it is

be careful out there, it's a jungle

Curiosity is killing me but obviously I AM NOT going to check out the site. Are there any interesting posts/articles that you can copy and paste for us to read?

    Thanks,

    Card.

    Parker: How to do it

Here is how to visit the link in the above post safely and anonymously by using a free anonymous proxy server.

    1. Right-click on the link in bfbagain's post above and then click on "Copy link address" or "Copy link location" or "Copy shortcut" (depending on what browser you are using) in the menu that opens.

    2. Come back to this post and click on the link below. This will take you to Proxify, a free anonymous proxy service.

    3. Right-click in the text box under where it says "Start surfing anonymously by entering a URL (Web address) below:" and click on "Paste." The address from bfbagain's post should appear.

    4. Click on "Proxify" to the right of the address. This will take you to the casino security website and you can surf there as normal. They will only be able to see the address of the proxy server.

You will see ads across the top of each page. This is how Proxify pays for the bandwidth used (and makes money).

    Enjoy.

    bfbagain: Excellent suggestion Mr. P

One more suggestion if I may. There are free anonymous services, and there are pay anonymous services.

It's wise to use more than one, and one should at least be a paid service. Options. Always keep options open.

    cheers

Indeed. Anonymizer.com is a good paid service. They are one of the oldest, and they are based in San Diego.

Another way to do it, if you can handle tweaking your browser configuration, is to go to the link below and grab one (or several) of the free proxies. Then just go into your browser preferences and configure it to use them. There are tutorials at the website.

This is also a good website for general security and privacy information.

If anyone is surfing from behind a restrictive firewall that blocks access to sites such as Advantageplayer.com (at work, for example), proxies are a way around this.

Not that I would recommend anyone trying to circumvent his/her workplace policies. :-)

Another way to be anonymous is to use an anonymous proxy. Simply goggle some IPs on the internet and use one of them as your browser's proxy.

    Cac

Thanks Parker for the proxy link, thanks bfbagain for the link.

Thanks again to Parker and BFB, but if I am concerned enough about the reef I'm surfing into, then I'm as concerned about the board I'm on.

Personally I don't trust the anon-proxys either (probably me, but, that's just me.)

Somehow I feel Kinko's is large enough and diverse enough that someone would have to work long and hard to track me down through one of their computers -and they conveniently have disk drives and printers at the ready.

Probably you, indeed. Most of these are run by hard-core privacy advocates. However, it is always a good idea to read all the fine print in the TOS (Terms of Service) before using a service.

Besides, there is no rule that says you have to use just one proxy. You can go through several of them, creating a path the would baffle even the most "leet" hacker, let alone some casino surveillance goon.

I have my own paranoia about using any public computer, since someone could come along behind me and possibly recover passwords, etc. The only way I will use one of these is if they will let me reboot into a live Linux CD such as Knoppix.

It probably should be pointed out that all of this paranoia regarding accessing the surveillance site is unnecessary if one is using an old-fashioned dial-up connection, since dial-ups assign a new IP address each time one connects. They could tell what part of the world you are dialing in from (maybe), and not much more.
