    Bettie: Found some real treasures!

    Gang,

I uncovered some real treasures the other day, and wanted to share them with our DD members first. These "treasures" are two papers on computer versus random shuffling, one of which was presented to the Seventh International Conference on Gambling and Risk Taking in Reno.

The first paper was written in 1987 by John M. Gwynn, Jr. and Arnold Snyder, titled "Does Casino Blackjack Differ from Computer-Simulated Blackjack." This is the paper that was presented at the conference, and it was also the basis for the Blackjack Forum March 1988 article ?Man vs. Computer.? It is 24 typewritten pages long.

Gwynn continued to work on this problem with Robert Maltas, and their findings as a result of this continued work are found in a second paper, "Additional Results Comparing Random and Simulated Casino Shuffling," published in 1992. It is 9 typewritten pages long.

Both reports are typewritten copies, but are the "original" copies put out for sale at the time. I have not altered or copied them myself in any fashion. They are a little aged, but were individually covered in plastic, so they are still in really good (if dusty) condition.

These are really neat papers that I'm offering for sale here for any collectors who might be interested in adding them to theit library. Both are available through our online catalog under "Blackjack" -> "Informational Reports."

Bettie: Down to one of the papers

Sorry to say that I have now sold out of one of the papers, the small 1992 "Additional Results" paper by Gwynn and Maltas.

I still have plenty of the original 1987 Gwynn and Snyder paper presented to the conference, as I had more of those to begin with in the first place.

The paper is only $6.00, so don't miss out before I run out of this one, too.

    Thanks,
    Bettie
