    Hollywood: SOUL BEING TESTED

I recently had an experience that we have all shared on occasion.

A swing that defies gravity .

I had a 37 unit win turn into a 150 unit loss in the same session.

    A 187 unit swing.

Talk about getting beaten up at high counts .

Thank goodness I had my Bible with me.

I opened right up to the part where the Don talks about SD and then went right over to where he mentions the soul part.

It immediately put a smile on my face. And the first thing I thought to myself was this.

I'm at the end of Oct and my season runs 1/1 until 12/31. I am currently up 940 units year to date.

Now last year at this time I was up 30% more then I am now.

So I want to know, who runs the complaint dept.?

The way I see it, the masters owe me about 30 thousand. I'm calling my attorneys in the morning.

And on the serious side all I can think of is the fact that year after year we all collectivly rob the casino's thanks to the people in this room who teach us.

It's like a license to steal

    Unbelievable,

MANY MANY THANKS TO THE MASTERS

How long did that session last? I have to admit that I've never lost so many units in a single sitting. Was that the bottom line when the shoe from hell ended, or did you keep playing after already dropping a bundle?

I played for a total of 8 hours straight.

The funny thing was that I was killing them at the bad counts when I was flat betting. Which was actually where the 37 unit win came from.

It was quite an interesting evening for yet another reason.

I had several high count opportunities in the course of the night. At one point I was down 100 units and in one hand with a couple of splits and doubles I went from being down only 40 units.

With a 12 unit bet out and a pair of 8's against a dealer queen, I get a 3rd 8 and 2 doubles. I got 6 thousand on the hand which started at plus 6.

I was on my 2nd prayer when the dealer broke.

That was the only highlight at high counts I had all night.

Eveytime I had big money on the table after that, it was just one of those evenings where the dealer was getting the cards instead of me. SD just kicked in over and over. Shit happens.

However, this was the most interesting part.

In 8 hours of play, with the exception of my 16 against dealer 10, insurance and 16 against dealer 9.

In the course of the entire night not ONE indice kicked in at the pivot. I found that so unusual in 8 hours of play.

The 150 units was the bottom line.

I actually would have kept on going, but I was quite tired.

It's so true what you say in BJA.

"The only time a counter gets beat, is if they are getting killed at high counts"

    That is exactly what happened.

For ONE evening, the casino took away my license to steal.

What they don't know is that I just let them borrow it, i'll take it back tonight .

I can't tell you how much I enjoy kicking there collective asses.

And you wonder why you're not welcome at several A.C. properties? Why do you do that?

Just how high was the TC? Maybe you should have stood with 16 and not split the 8s with a count high enough to bet 12 units. Or, even better, could you have asked to surrender?

    > The 150 units was the bottom line.

Not that unusual for a "session" that lasts 8 hours. Since I never play for more than one hour at a time in any given casino, I wondered how it would be possible to lose 150 units in one "session."

Actually, what I say is the only time a counter gets killed is at the high counts. You need the opportunity to lose to actually lose! :-)

I was in one of the casino's where they still allow me to play in my own name.

When I play in my own name, I still play a bit more conservatively. And alot longer.

Also, it was a big event night and the whales were out in force. I was playing for big money, but compared to the company I was playing with, I was a nobody. Many players at different tables (including mine) were playing for several thousands of dollars per hand.

The count was at plus 6 using KO.

I was not sitting at a table that allowed surrender.

When I play KO, I only use an IRC.(no tc) Which at the time was plus 6 when the hand started and plus 4 when it came time to split my 8's.

Going back a ways, I had asked the question in this room regarding the splitting of 8's at that count using KO, and I was told to split them.

Using KO, 6 decks, das, doa split 3 times. At what count should I not split the 8's against dealer 10?

Even though that was the largest hand I won all night, was that an incorrect play?

Sorry about the mis-quote in BJA.

I guess what I wanted to say is that it amazes me that sometimes at the highest of counts, the dealers just gets the cards.

What your saying makes sense, I thought it was odd that you thought it was alot to lose in a session. I should have told you how long it was.

It would be the equivlent of you losing 8 seperate sessions. And when you say it like that, it's not even a big loss.

For Hi-Lo, it's a TC greater than +8. As you know, there's no one answer for K-O, because it depends on what the pen level is. You can average it, but there is little accuracy that way. One example: If IRC is -20 for six decks, and if three decks are remaining, you'd need a RC of +16 or higher to not split.

Finally, A.C. is bad enough as it is; I would play at places that permit surrender, if at all possible.

    Probably not.

us aggressive "Bj Warriors" these wings are to be expected. You must get used to it. It is very troubling when you win almost all hands in neg. counts and lose most in the high, when you have the money out. But what can you say.....think outside the box, just a little bit.
This game is a major challenge and a true battle.

Well, that's a good point. But, I don't want to get to used to it .

This is a great room, not only do we get the answers to questions in world record time and precision, but, we also get to use it as kind of a Blackjack therapist.

I once had 8 losing sessions in a row and Don did the writing equivlant of smacking a ranting person in the face to make me understnad that stuff just happens.

I've learned to move right through loses. It's actually quite easy for me because I trust the math.

These days when I post large swings etc. It's mostly so the newer people don't get fustrated like I used to.

I'm a powerhouse player who is not really that smart. So I figure if that don't inspire people then nothing will .
