Sun Runner: from an earlier dialogue ..

"Better gamblers than you (I'm guessing here) have dealt with it." -SR
In retrospect, I could have been wrong here.

"I really am curious what damages you have suffered at the hands of a casino?" -SR
I'll have to admit that having to put on halloween costumes could become a real drag.

I would like to tell you a little story.

Going back about a year ago. I was in touch with a casino host who happens to be a close personal friend of mine.

I spend a great deal of time and money cultivating
hosts and various other casino people who can help my cause.

That being said, on this particular day a friend of mine asked me if I could do him a favor and use one of my connections to check him out at that casino so perhaps he could go there to play.

This person has taught me a great deal about BJ and has helped me in many ways to become the player I am by teaching me how it's done in the trenches.

Alot of what we learn from the masters and the books is wonderful in principal and sounds great over coffee. But, anyone can tell you that actually doing this stuff takes many other great qualities. Balls included.

So when my friend asked me this, I happilly called my connection at home. (did not want to have this conversation on the casino phone) I gave him my friends personal information that he needed and waited for him to get to work and call me back.

3 hours later I get the phone call. It was not the phone call I or my friend wanted. But, here goes.

My host calls me and CAN'T STOP LAUGHING.

    I say, "_______ what's so funny".

He says "are you kidding" "__________ i'm doing this for 30 years and I have never seen anything like this on my computor screen."

"who the hell is this guy"

He printed it out and is reading it to me and goes on to say the following.

If this person comes into the hotel immediately contact casino security and the persons name who is in charge of all the pit bosses.

He says, that they have a card counting rating system and this guy is off the charts and it gives a list of differnt casinos to contact to see the damage he has done.

My friend is still laughing as he is reading it.
I could not believe the conversation.

His advice to me is "_________ do youself a favor and don't even get caught talking to this guy in the parking lot"

He told me he has never seen a counter this hot.

Anyway I wanted to share that because the person I am talking about is CARDKOUNTR.

He is by far the best I have ever seen, and apparently the casinos feel the same way.

So when you start your post off. Better gamblers then you have dealt with it, I can't help but to respond.

This is not a person that posts much, but he is a rare find. He is a person who actually pays his bills with BJ PROCEEDS.

I'm not trying to offend anyone, but some people deserve more respect.

    Sun Runner,
Suffice it to say that I've had my share of backoffs/barrings some have occured with respect and professionalism and some have been downright nasty but i'm sure other players have had much worse experiences than I. On two occasions I've been cuffed and illegally detained for a brief time but have never suffered any physical abuse....other than being threatned once while playing out of the country.

After awhile you become accustomed to the routine counter measures in the venues that cannot legally bar players, such as the half shoes, pref shuffles, flat bet restrictions etc and you just deal with and move on or devise creative ways to foil their countermeasures.

And yes, Halloween and New Years can be good times to play, but during the year depending on previous action taken at a particular venue it sometimes becomes necessary to alter your appearance as well.

    Best Regards,
    Card.

A great story. It alone makes the monthly dues here worth every penny.

I understand. In an earlier post, in a different place, I did make the above statement to Cardkountr. But just so we are clear -what I was trying to convey today was that I might have erred in my judgement of him and that while others have dealt with the same difficulty of being able to play that he (and you) have -probably NONE were better than he.

You are trying to not offend me, which I appreciate.

No offense taken however; and plenty of respect given.

After reading your's and Hollywood's fascinating story I started to post my 're-assessment' (as if it is worth anything) of your place in the long line of successful gamblers back over at bj21 where I initially called it out.

Since you and he posted this story here, in semi-private, I didn't know if that would have been proper; so I did'nt.

I trust you will read my response to Hollywood above and understand the spirit it is written in.

Now don't get me wrong -I'm stickin' with my views on the casino industry, rights -or lack thereof -to gamble, rights to not be physically abused while being shown the door, all of it.

They could be wrong; but I'm stickin' to them.

    Thanks for the interesting story.

I do apoligize if I offended you, because it was truly not my intention.

What I was trying to do was let it be known what a heavyweight Card is.

I have seen him in action and it's like poetry in motion. From his math skills to his camo skills right down to his whole act. It's really quite impressive to watch. I felt because he almost never posts and stays so far under the radar that no one really knows what an icon he really is.

So if my dander got up a bit it was only because I let my emotions guide my judgement.

After reflection, how could you or anyone have known what a high grade this guy is, considering he keeps such a low profile.

So please accept my sincere apoligies.
