    gomez18: Chat without Java

    I recently signed up for DD and am very pleased with the quality of content I have found thus far. I have a question regarding the chat software. I see that the link to the chat room brings up a java application. Unfortunately, on my main computer, it is not possible to install java. I know that these chat programs are often just frontends to irc or something similar. Is there any way to get to the chats without using the java program? Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Dear gomez18,

    Unfortunately the software we currently use does not support HTML-refresh-style chatting. We needed a modestly priced chat system that supported transcribing, which is what we're currently using.

    I'll look at the future plans of our current software, and any new developments in the chat software world, to see if we can address your issue.
