Don Schlesinger: Contest: We have a winner!

We have a winner for our first-ever contest here at Don's Domain!

Congratulations to KSever, who not only found the top five closest BS plays but also listed them in the precise order of closeness!

Just to be a little more impressive, he listed another three "honorable mention" plays, and they, too, were all correct!

We salute you for a job well done! Please contact Viktor to let him know what prize you would like.

Here, courtesy of Cacarulo, are the top five plays, with their respective EVs and game conditions:

    1. A,2 vs 5 | (D,H) | 0.136360 0.136331 | 0.000029 | 8D,S17,DOA

    Kyle Sever: Thanks everyone

In addition to the Sore loser, I wonder how many entries there were.

Now, what is the most expensive thing in the catalog?

I'd be embarrassed for the readers to tell you.

If I were you, I'd be asking, "What is the most IMPORTANT thing in the catalog that I don't already have?" It may not be the most expensive! :-)

BJA3 may very well be the most important item we don't have, but I'm not wasting my prize on it!

    I ordered SBA.

I don't need speeding up! It's the people who haven't yet bought BJA2 who need encouragement! :-)

Download Cac's tables, spread'em all over Excel, create EV differences for each play, sort all. What, did you start fiddling with SimSimp?..

No. Only had about two hours to look at the problem. Just used the "elusive 8" tables in Beyond counting to make a list of 15 candidates. Wrote 'em down by hand, and checked through all Cac's tables. My mistake: I wrote down 93, 84, and 75 vs. 4, but forgot T2. So my list of 5 skipped #3.

I really didn't think I had all the right answers. But figured I might have a chance, since not too many entries.

I don't even have Excel on the comfuser. So first I'd have to install a clone, then figure out how to use it ...
