I'm not sure you can say it's rare any more, with all the casinos proliferating around the country. I've seen it at least half a dozen times. Once, it involved a 200% negative EV for everyone at the table, yet no one protested but me (unsuccessfully, I might add). This was on a boat -- not an Indian casino.

I agree this practice should be reviled, repudiated, and ridiculed off the planet!

p.s. I don't think Pro Player's idea depends on backing up the cards, though his example has me puzzled. I'm not sure PP's idea is inconsistent with what Cyrus is saying.

    Cyrus: Ready made

To some aspiring advantage players it looks like a give-away approach. They fear that the dealer or the pit will get suspicious the player must be preparing something later on --- which he does!

"I can't imagine that there are some people who don't play in the manner you've described."

You meant to say "advantage players"! We've all seen the "deep thinkers" in a game. These are the folks at 3rd base who, delaying of course the game and busting our chops, will ponder soberly each and every hand, like whether to hit 17 against an Ace, royally taking in the "advice" offered by the table, knowing full well that they "hold" the table's fate in their hands and they look important to their squeeze.

Well, in case someone's having trouble visualizing how one gets away with "training the dealer" and the whole approach, you got a ready-to-wear right there!

About Blackjack: The Forum

BJTF is an advantage player site based on the principles of comity. That is, civil and considerate behavior for the mutual benefit of all involved. The goal of advantage play is the legal extraction of funds from gaming establishments by gaining a mathematic advantage and developing the skills required to use that advantage. To maximize our success, it is important to understand that we are all on the same side. Personal conflicts simply get in the way of our goals.
