HOLLYWOOD: I really want to thank everyone

I am completly overwhelmed by the response from all of you.
Giving more and more validation that this is the best blackjack place to be on the globe.
On a regular basis my game improves everyday, and that is because of ALL OF YOU.
Each day playing BJ is a new adventure for me. And I constantly have new questions.
I have never asked a question in here where the reply did not make me a better player.

    Regards,

    Hollywood

Pro Player: Take it from the pro

Get them damn chips out there quick.
When I split my tens and pull an ace my chips are out there quick for the double.
And with the right dealer, timing that chip shove is great for getting the next card and getting better info for the double.

What "info" do you get by "timing that chip shove"? Thanks.

    Pro Player: the next card,

in this case the card you will get on the double down (if you decide to double).

I think they would give you the next card at best, and would not back up a card. And then they would give you a lot of heat. If they back the card up then it might be worth it though! For example, you split a maximum bet T-T versus a 6. If you get ace and then ten, your double down wins an extra maximum bet and needs to draw another card with Ten versus 6. So you gain a large fraction of a maximum bet. And they might even think you are a crazy player instead of an angle shooter. What are your experiences with this angle?

    Cyrus: An important qualifier

"When I split my tens and pull an ace my chips are out there quick for the double."

It's important to have the dealer notice me, no mater what my hand is. Even when I hold TT and I have no intention of splitting them, I indicate to the dealer that I Stand. I may get a look or two (as in "What was that for, I know you're pat") but it's no trouble.

This is training the dealer to notice you. When the time comes for me to make a "strange play", such as doubling on that A9 or whatever, she must wait in the back of her mind for a signal before she passes me by.

I can keep the game going real smoothly without any trouble at all or making myself conspicuous by this. (There are variations to how I direct the dealer, aiming at leaving my options open for close calls, which, for reasons of decorum in this place, I shall not go into.)

    Don Schlesinger: Precisely

I agree with everything you've written; in fact, I even said so, above! :-)

I can't imagine that there are some people who don't play in the manner you've described.

It is long-standing Casino Practices 101 that "you don't back up a card." Now, I'm not saying that somewhere, at some time, some pit boss hasn't done so, but it is extremely rare and is simply not standard casino policy anywhere that I know of.

Pro Player: Card need not be backed up

if "not exposed" or if "hasn't come off the deck" or if dealt face down "out of sight to players".
For all of the above quoted phrases the card may be seen by the alert and trained eye though no others have. This all comes with well timed chip shoves/retractions/realease or nonrelease of chips etc.
Just last week split tens (3 times) against 16 got ace, next card was ace (only i saw) so waved it off and doubled on the other hand. no pit involvment whatsoever betting purple.

    Pro Player: Yes it does

I do it all the time.
Usually they think I am a crazy player and folks think I'm an idiot.
You gotta have the right act going.
Not a good idea in certain situations like if you expect video review

    Kim Lee: Huh?

I assume you split T-T versus a 6 (not 16). You received an ace on the first hand and glimpsed another ace coming. You can't double on a single card Ten. So what did you double?

No, I assume he split TT v. hard 16 (not 6 up). The first hand was left as TA v. 16 (#1). Then the Ace hit the second hand, producing TA v. 16 (#2), and this was then doubled with an unknown double down card coming.
