Garry Baldy: General Question To J. Morgan
Hi.
I want to ask how you technically achieve knoledge of dealer's card(s) in BJ or 3-card poker. How one should train itself to do it?
Do you use contact lenses or glasses? Sun glasses? Eyes drops? What type and how and why? How do you train your eyes? Special devices or some sort of gym for the eyes? Which amount of natulal ability should one have to play hole card 3CP? Or this is just training?
It would be very interesting to know some of guidelines of training process. Your calculations are just outstanding but knowledge of the tables isn't enough, right? How do you see that card???
I know about some scam. The group of cheaters played 5-card Caribbean Stud. They have cell phones with built-in videocameras. In the process of play this phone were located by the cheaters in such way that the camera could "see" dealer's cards. Then this "phone" transmitted signals to the computer outside casino (one of the cheaters sits in the car near the casino with notebook). Then the signal was transmitted back to players. They hit casino hardly and quickly and left. Casino then discovered the scam but nobody were caught. Now in this casino is prohibited to lay cell phones on the table.
And one more question about 3CP. Say that the team of 6 players sits at the table and they all are signalling his cards to each other. So actually you will know 18 player's cards. Is there any advantage without hole-carding? Optimal strategy will be much more complex, of course.
Thanks in advance.
Luck.

Don Schlesinger: No need to ever apologize
I have the utmost respect for those who post here in a language (English) that is not their native tongue. I admire that and realize that it isn't easy. Don't ever apologize; we're delighted to have you here.
I wish my Russian were as good as your English! :-)

Garry Baldy: Re: And one more question
You posted very interesting tables of EV in 3CP when player knows one of his cards before dealing. I think here should be some betting spread involved, right? When you see the Ace before the dealing you should bet table max, of course etc. Have you ever done some studies about it?
Thanks in advance.
Luck.

There's not much to study there. Each bet card is equally likely, so it's easy to figure out the overall edge if you were consistently knowing the bet card. Just set up a spreadsheet with the following columns:
1) Type the 13 numbers giving the edge in a column on a spreadsheet.
2) Write the desired bet size next to each card from column (1) ($100 on an Ace, $5 on a 2, for example).
3) Take the product of (1) and (2) to give the expected $$ result of the hand.
Expected profit per hand is just the average of the values in column (3).
Basically, if you can get the bet card often, then load up on the Ace and King and (maybe) Queen. (Don't load up on the Jack, because you may not get the dealer's card, and the edge would be small anyway.) This is a good game.
Practical tip: Shuffle your own cards a few times, so that it'll be a bit more difficult for anyone to make the play.
