czechs play: for the double deck players
Will be heading to Vegas next week as part of my twice a year pilgrimage. For all you double deck players, how do you track the number of decks left, when converting to true count? I've always multiplied the running count by 1/2 for the first/second hand played, then multiply by 2/3 when half a deck is used, then multiply by 1 when obviously a full deck has been used, then multiply by 4/3 when 3/4 are left. I switch these multipliers by looking at the discard tray, not by counting the actual number of cards used. Do you guys use more multiplier factors than the 4, and if so, how many more? Do you visually check the discard tray, or are you counting the number of cards used?
I'll also keep a side count of the aces by simply pressing my left fingers slightly harder against the table rail...pinkie being one ace, ring being 2nd, you get the picture. Finally, i'll occasionally add my heavy drinking act as part of my cover (i can drink like a fish without the physical/mental drawbacks, which is a huge plus in this situation).
I've honestly gotten quite bored of my method, and am looking to see if i can add to my repertoire.
As someone who's only played sd and dd games exclusively my whole career, I would find it alot more complicated to play a 6 decker with alot more multipliers to deal with, or am i being too lazy to adjust to multideck? I understand that playing multideck adds longevity to one's bj career, but i do not visit vegas frequently enough to change my game, and my local casinos in southern california provide very little heat for my DD play.
Lastly, where can I find a $50 min. DD game during the weekend night in Vegas? I know they're more plentiful during the daytime, but how about at night during the weekend?

If you can stand the MGM-Mirage poor penetration, at the lower class MGM-Mirage joints, you will find $50 minimum DD on non-fight, non-special event weekends. NYNY for example. But you are correct, it seems to be a dying brand of game at those $$$ levels.
Remember, we are in a "slow down." If there is an empty $100 table without a reserved sign on it, ask the Floor to grant you $50 minimum permission. Many will allow it, but you have to ask. They just like to keep the $100 sign up to look impressive.
Good luck.

just got back from vegas. you can find $25/$50/$100 min DD tables at Mandalay Bay even on weekends. best game on the strip IMHO. if you settle for a slightly inferior game, TI/Mirage should have playable DDs at the $50 level on weekends as well.
