    jimmtech: Vegas Chips

Are there any sister properties or neighboring casinos that will honor or cash chips from another casino? (I have seen this done in Tunica)

Also, do any casinos use chips implanted with RFID or other tracking devices such that they know when their chips enter or leave their casino?

    Daily Dubble: Re: Vegas Chips

(OMG! Some action on the Vegas page!)

My experience, both times by accident, is that casinos will cash each other's chips. Once, after ratholing a few black at the Mirage (I know, I know), I neglected to cash one out. Later that night at the Venutian, I cashed out a stack of black, and that lone Mirage chip was in the stack. I caught it as I slid the stack over to the cashier, and pointed it out, but the cashier said "no problem, we can cash their chips". I have discussed this at the tables more than once, and the dealers and PCs say that they will cash chips from another casino, but you can;t play them.

The second time it happened was with dollar chips, but in that instance it was MGM chips at the NYNY - same family and low denomination, so they did not even blink.

I would not try this with larger demoninations. I have never tried to cash in a stack of chips elsewhere after being tossed.

Wynn chips supposedly have RFIDs in them, but I have never heard of their being a "chip detector" at the door.

    Wolverine: Re: Vegas Chips

My experience in getting chips cashed at a "sister property" cage was completely the opposite of what was posted here. I won back $x,000 and came back to pay off a marker with a stack of $1,000 chips. It took almost an hour to get each cage to talk to each other and ACCEPT that they were real chips.

Advice: black and under you will probably be okay as pointed out in previous posts (but I can't confirm this), but for $500+ denomination chips: cash 'em out at the casino that bears their name. If not at that time, another time or another person.

What a major hassle that was! The keystone cops episode I watched for an hour convinced me that "sister casinos" are actually sibling rivalries! :-)
