ComboProf: Shuttle from Airport to Downtown was a mistake

Well, I tried the shuttle to get from Airport to Downtown.
It took 15 to get loaded and 1.5 hours to get downtown.
Naturally I was the last stop after a dozen or so other stops.

    Next year its a TAXI!

Actually I think downtown is a mistake for a poker player, but good for BJ.
I found a nice game of BJ at the California non-smoking table across from
Pasta Pirates, while I was waiting for the rest of our dinner party.
I stayed at Main street Station which has newly renovated rooms and is
very nice, but the BJ there is crappy and there is no poker.

I was told that the Nugget will be constructing a new poker room.
I hope it will have easy access to a bathroom. I'm a little tired at the
mad dash around the slots to get to the bathroom which is directly behind the
"poker area", but with no door to the poker area.

Had fun, favorite Poker room is now Mandalay Bay, but I also played (poker) at Golden Nugget, Plaza, Binions, Cesare's, MGM, Bally's, Excalibur and
    The Orleans.

Sounds like you caught the absolute worst-case scenario with the shuttle. I don't think it has ever taken me more than an hour, max, including loading time. Which shuttle service did you use? I usually use CLS. Sometimes I have gotten lucky and been the first stop, and I don't think I have ever had more that 3 or 4 stops ahead of me.

I don't play live poker, but since only three of the downtown casinos even offer the game (Plaza, Binion's and Golden Nugget), I would agree that downtown is not the place for poker. However, I would think that Binion's would be a must-play, if only for the historical significance.

I'm surprised that you found a good BJ game at the Cal. It has been my experience that all the downtown Boyd joints (Cal, Fremont, MSS) offer essentially the same crappy game: H17, no DAS, and poor pen with no cutcard used.

Binions always seems dark and crowded.
BTW you should play poker. It is way eaier than BJ.

Yes I was supprised too. I was staying at Main Street
so I play a little BJ just to put points on my "gold card"
Penitration at Main Street was 50% but at Cal it was maybe 60%. I try to play a low varience break even game
spreading around 6:1 not the required 8:1 to make a profit.
I'll also leave if the count get really bad. But I had a little luck and made a profit. Enough for a couple of nice
    meals.
