    Nick: Cheating

    Hi people,

You are doing a really nice job here. I am from Europe (I'm from Greece) perhaps I will arrange a 2 week trip to Nevada during november. I mainly play blackjack (I'll try to play single deck since it's hard to find in Europe) and poker.

I got some questions and I would be thankfull should any of you bother to answer.

    1. I read in a post by mr. Parker than the best SD are to be found in Reno, where exactly?

    2. What do you know about cheating in Nevada(in poker and blackjack)? Are things any better in SD (yeah the 6:5 crap) in Atlantic City?

    3. Is it true that they can't bar you in Atlantic City?

    4. What is the comp situation in Vegas and Reno? Can you arrange free stay by playing a few hours as some yeears ago?

Thanks in advance of your help.

    Best regards,

    Nick.

Nearly every casino in Reno offers at least a few tables of single deck. Red chip bettors have many choices. Bigger bettors usually favor the larger casinos, such as Atlantis, Peppermill, and JA Nugget. Detailed conditions for Reno, Las Vegas, and nearly everywhere can be obtained by subscribing to TrackJack (link below).

While one should always keep one's eyes open, cheating at blackjack is not a significant worry in Nevada, AC, or really, anywhere in the US.

I don't know anything about poker - you might try asking on our Poker forum.

They cannot throw players out of the casino simply because they believe them to be counting cards. However, they can take other counter-measures, such as half-shoeing, reducing table limits, etc.

Yes, providing that your bet level is sufficiently high. Comps are generally tighter than they were a few years ago, with more casinos using computerized tracking systems, and pit critters having less authority to issue comps. Reno is generally more liberal than Las Vegas.

You're welcome. Note that questions regarding Reno conditions are more appropriate for our South & West page.

Parker is correct. The other thing to consider is that Reno is a bit of a low roller town. Green chip action will stick out at most places and black chip action will only be tolerated at the largest casinos. It would help if you can provide more detail on your bet level.

BJ - I have had some odd experiences at a few of the smaller Reno places where I suspected a dealer was dealing seconds, but overall, not much to worry about IMHO. Again, depending on your bet level, you may be limited to just the largest casinos where this should not be a worry.

Poker - It is very common to find tables full of locals who know each other very well and tend to soft play their friends a bit. You may consider this to be cheating.

Depends on bet level. Again, Reno is a low roller town. Buy-in for $2K and most places will have a host at your table within 5 minutes.

I have experienced limited RFB with an average bet of $50. 4 hours a day.

    Hi,

    Thanks a lot people.

There are calculations to make before I define the level but I think it will be $10 minimum and spread 8-1 (and perhaps $5 in non positive if no heat).

Whould these levels draw heat in Reno and LV if played 4-5h a day in 2h sessions (perhaps in different clubs)?

I got also something you people might be interesting to take a look at DD,Hs17,NO SPLITTING AT ALL. It is offered by a European casino, funny isn't it?. You may think it's crap but for us in Europe it may mean the inserting of DD and SD.

    Thanks again,

    Nick.

If you keep the max bet below $100, you should not get too much heat. Standard advice is to limit sessions to 45 minutes, but a 2 hour session isn't completely unreasonable if you don't mind getting barred too much. In other words, if your not planning on coming back on a regular basis. Spreading 1-4 green, I have had 2-3 hour sessions with no immediate heat at most of the larger Reno places. If you hit them with these types of sessions on multiple occassions, then you may be in trouble.

One tip for an $80 max is to spread 1-4 using a $20 unit. This means you are always betting 4 chips and always have a red chip on top. It doesn't look like much of a spread to the casual observer. With SD, the count will jump around alot and a 1-4 spread should be enough to get the $$. If you do drop down to $10, then limit your session time a bit.

Drop me an e-mail if you want details on specific places, or check out Trackjack.
