Parker: McCarran airport offers free Wi-fi

This is cool. McCarran airport (the main Las Vegas airport) now has high speed Internet access via wi-fi. This is not unusual -- most large airports now offer this. What is unusual is that it is free!

    bfbagain: yep. They've actually

been testing (as I just read in the article) for some time now. I discovered this as early as late Nov. (as I recall), and certainly in Dec. At least at the C/D gates.

Very cool. I kept waiting for the page to pop up and ask me for money, but it never came.

I had trouble connecting at the D Gates. Hopefully they've fixed the issue. I could connect at ticketing.

    Shadow: Not free...

...but several Sturbucks (none inside the casinos) and several Borders offer wifi.
You can find a list at www.t-mobile.com.

Mandalay Bay has WiFi in the rooms (don't know if in all or all levels).

And no, it's not free :-((

We were unable to access the WiFi over the Christmas holiday while we were waiting for our flight out of the D terminal. Perhaps it was too busy.

bfbagain: That's because they're not "Mac" friendly. :-)

    Just kiddin...

Of course, when I'm using it I'm at that beer pub down from gates 8-11 (I think).

Must be the beer, or for me the diet coke. Of course, that would be war dialin...and well...

All joking aside, that's a nice touch at McCarren.

    Parker: Wi-fi search engine

C/Net has a search engine for Wi-fi hotspots. Turns out several hotels have Wi-fi, although not free (El Cortez???). There are a couple of coffee shops with free service. And of course the airport.
