Coug Fan: One Club Credit Card

I got a credit card application where the card is linked to my one club account. The selling point is that they give one club comp dollars equal to 10% of all credit card charges, so the comps could obviously add up fast. I am assuming that the casino gets access to my credit info (if they don't already have it), which would help them market to high rollers, etc.

I am not sure whether I would forfeit acquired comps if they trespassed me for AP activity, although I am sure they have some fine print allowing them to do this. Regardless, I am tempted to take them up on this offer. That way, I could cover most trip expenses (hotel and food) without needing comps where I play. Of course, I would want to minimize play at the One Club resorts if they have more extensive credit info. What do you folks think of getting and using this card?

I would think you are safe getting this card. As you say the comps will accrue quickly and if you really want to play at a MB Group property you could do so why staying else where and play anon'.

That 10% comp $ rebate will almost definately cover your trip costs and that has to be a massive pro for going for it.

    All the best

Are you talking about the One Club Platinum Visa Card? The rebate is 1%, not 10%. You do get $10 flat comp the first time you use your card, but only 1% after that. This would be a similar deal to credit cards issued by Caesars, MGM and Harrah's.

If you have no goal of ever playing at high levels, and advantage play is a pastime, then I guess it wouldn't matter much. However, if you're trespassed at MBG properties, now a fully approved Mirage/MGM MBG merger (as of yesterday I believe), you risk losing all MGM properties as well.

Is a few comp dollar points worth it?

For my take, it doesn't seem to be worth it, but that's me.

I did not look at the offer very quickly since I was just sorting through junk mail, so I could have been mistaken. You are probably correct that it is 1%, which obviously changes things quite a bit. At 1%, I will just stick with using cards that give me frequent flier miles. The added risk of giving more info to the casino is not worth it.
