Bullet Train: Be careful at Alladin

Was there the other night and got pretty upset at what I saw. A Player was playing 6:5 BJ and got a BJ with a dealer Ace up. Player took insurance, and the dealer had the BJ. The dealer then froze and called over the Floor Supervisor to figure out what to do and how to pay. Floor Supervisor doesnt know either, so another Floor Supervisor comes over, a young Asian female, and says that when a player insures a BJ on the 6:5 game, and the dealer has a BJ, the player loses the orignal bet and only gets paid the 2:1 on the insurance. I jumped in and told the Floor Supervisor she was wrong and she was cheating this guy out of money. The player was upset and knew he was being cheated. I was so mad to see this I started yelling and arguing with the Asian lady, I was so mad that I just walked out of there, not knowing hos this ended, but I told the player to make sure he gets his original bet back before I left.

Just another problem with the 6/5 game. To think I used to say "even money" when you had a blackjack and insuring a blackjack were the same thing. The guy still should have gotten even money. He wins his insurance bet and pushes the hand.

I I was CEO at Aladdin, I'd fire that stupid boss. They pissed even the ploppies who play 6:5 not realizing that these people are paying their wages. It's a good event for the AP community.
In the case of 6:5, the business of even money and buying insurance is tricky. In this case, buying insurance is not the same as take even money. Take even money is better off than buying insurance, that's why lots of casinos don't allow th ploppies to take even money.

    Geoff Hall: Simple 6/5 Math'...

The feedback from managers having some difficulty grasping the 'even money' issue has been quite surprising. To underline it to them I give the following example :-

Player has a $10 'Blackjack' on a 3/2 game and decides to insure by putting up $5.

    Outcomes :-

Dealer has a 'Blackjack' - Player pushes his bet but wins $10 on the Insurance line ($5 at 2/1).

Dealer does not have a 'Blackjack' - Player wins his bet and gets paid $15 but loses his $5 Insurance bet.

Both outcomes result in a $10 win for the player i.e. Even Money.

With the 6/5 game and the same $10 bet, the player will :-

Dealer has a 'Blackjack' - Push his bet but get paid $10 on the Insurance line (as before).

Dealer does not have a 'Blackjack' - will lose his $5 Insurance bet BUT only get paid $12 on his 'Blackjack' - ONLY $7 PROFIT

So, the player will win $10 one way but only win $7 the other way i.e. NOT an even money scenario.

    Best regards

    Geoff
