Battery: Las Vegas - the TV show

On tonight's season premiere of Las Vegas, Danny and Sam try to figure out the tactics of a ring of card counters.

Might be worth tuning in for laughs if nothing else.

It's not the season premiere, which was last week, but it should be interesting to see how they handle the topic.

this was as bad as "Rainman" the movie. Lisa never lost, won a fortune each time, how unreal!

The legal argument used against the counters was very weak, IMO, and would have never stood up in court, at least not in front of a jury.

    What BS!

    A fun watch though.

Battery: Re: Las Vegas - the TV show - what happened

This is how the "ring of counters" worked. An inobtrusive man would quietly play at a table until the count became high. At that point he would stand up and leave which was noticed by one of his cohorts in the surveillance room. That guy would call the coffee shop and talk to yet another member of the ring. This guy, whose job was to take phone orders, was also responsible for the music being played in the coffee shop. When he got the call from surveillance he would play the Pina Colada song which would signal Lisa who was sitting there reading a book. When she heard the song, she would walk quickly over to the table and start playing for high stakes. Well, it's a TV show, right?

In his "sermon" about the evils of card counting Ed Deline (James Caan) said he could not allow it because then his staff would be out of work and it would be the counters who would be building the 5,000 room casinos. They did make the point later on that card counting is not illegal.

The highlight of the show may have been the opening of the topless pool at the Montecito. They claimed they had to do it because Mandalay Bay and Caesars already had one.

I can't watch these shows because I get too annoyed with the inconsistencies they show, but I like your "round-up" here.

In the meantime, probably 2 rounds have been played and no one knows what the count currently is (wouldn't anyway, since that info wasn't passed according to your description here), so how does she know what to bet and what her plays are?

Yeah, right. Never mind the fact that it's perfectly okay to go around collecting a bunch of money to build a casino with. After all of the work a counter would have to go through to "underhandedly" obtain the billion dollars or so needed, I think he'd be too damned exhausted (or old, by that point) to build a casino!

Of course! Viktor could use that excuse for his backyard jacuzzi, too!
