Ouchez: "Casino" show and Green Valley

    Ranch.

This appears to be a nice property but does anyone know the skinny on the BJ games there?

    Just wonderin.

They seem to always want to do right with the customer and give them what they want.

    Regards,
    Ouchez.

r u talking about Green Valley Ranch?

If so, I was in there last month and saw the best pen I'd ever seen in the Vegas area, less than 1 deck on a 6 deck shoe with LS etc, .26% house advantage. Most people were playing the 6:5 single deck, while I had the table mostly to my self. What a laff.

    Hi Ouchez

It is a nice property, I was there a few weeks ago looking around. As they cater for the 'locals' market then the atmosphere seemed friendly.

Not exactly sure of the rules but if they follow the usual 'Station' approach their multi-deck will be 6-Deck, H17, DAS, DOA and the penetration I saw at another 'Station' property was very good (1 Deck), but they may make their own rules at each place.

    Best regards

    Geoff

    Parker: It's a Station joint

It may be the class act of the Station group (and it is indeed a beautiful property), but it's still a Station joint at heart. Double deck is the usual H17 DOA DAS NS, with pen ranging from mediocre to unplayable - just like you'll find at Texas Station, Palace Station, etc. Don't forget your Boarding Pass.

    Remember, reality TV isn't.

Bettie: Re: It's (half of) a Station joint

GVR Station is a Station joint, but only 50%. The other half is owned by the Greenspun Corp (LVRJ, and half the media in town). That's both good and bad, because a lot of what they do is different from other Station properties.

For example, a lot of the Stations promotions are separate from what GVR offers, their limits are higher, the buffet is higher-priced, and they do a lot of different marketing things "their way." On the other hand, these same differences are what keeps the general local riff-raff out, and you can enjoy some peaceful play at a beautiful property. I walked through the pit and saw the six-deck games had one and a half decks cut off (I didn't watch the pitch games because they were being hawked by the pit critters).

If you're into it, it's a good place for celebrity spotting. Bill Clinton always stays there (in fact, I heard he bought one of the townhouses built out front), they frequently have high-profile names at the nightclubs and restaurants (George Clooney is fairly regular there, as are a lot of local celebs), and I spotted an actor from one of my favorite shows (Nip/Tuck) there a few months back, playing 3-card poker.

I kind of got off-topic there. I haven't played a lot of bj there, for various reasons, but it certainly is playable.

Don't be so down on the Stations, Parker! If you played 6-deck, you'd be happy Texas offers late surrender!

    Parker: Clarification

I'm not "down on the Stations," I'm just saying that their double deck games generally suck, and in that respect GVR is no different than the rest. GVR certainly has one of the better buffets in town.

However, I still haven't forgiven Station for what they did to the Fiesta! :-)

Yes, I witnessed just 1 deck cut-off on the 6 deck games. (I knew about the LS but forgot to state that initially).

Didn't look at the DD so can't comment although I'm sure Parker will be accurate about the poor pen'.

    Best regards
