BUZZO: Re: Kudos to all above for a terrific thread
I am talking about the Riviera in Black Hawk Colorado. $5 min/max bet 3/2 BJ, Dealers stands on Soft 17, split all up to 3 times except aces,
and Dounble after split. They walk past this to
play 6 deck shoe games. Oh and yes this is the hope of the Colorado Split. Splitting Tens LOL

Parker: May I direct your attention . . .
. . . to the top of the page. You will note that this is the "Las Vegas Everything" page. When you mention the "Riviera" on this page, everyone assumes that you are referring to the Riviera Hotel & Casino on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip.

You were correct in your original post that the casino cannot be making any money on this game. Unfortunately, with a $5 limit, neither can an advantage player.
Since the players are all recreational gamblers, my guess is that they prefer the shoe because at the single deck table they spend too much time watching the dealer shuffle the cards.

Saboteur: Security
The casinos maximize the number of players at a table to minimize the number of dealers they have to watch. Theft by employees in collusion with players is a far greater problem than counters. You don't want twenty dealers with two or three players at each table if you can have ten dealers, each dealing to six players. One renegade dealer can hand over the difference between slow play and fast play for the entire shift to his buddies in just a few hours.
