Yes,
the games are crap as anticipated-but the free cake etc,,,ohh-same dealers, new pit crew.
a few dbls
a few 6 deckers
and a few gosh golly gee 6/5
ms allowed on all games with LIMITS
no real sd
but Texas/gold coast/silverton stillgreat for the dbl's deckers
the strip still has a few wonders without the paranoia
fiesta-freaking on players going only 3-1-unreal and gave the boot to some rookies, what theheck is this..worse than the dumps.
and what I think is the best casino to just hangout-suncoast-fun fun fun

Parker: A shame

So much for preserving the legacy, not making it a Harrah's, old Las Vegas, etc., etc. Single deck is what the Horseshoe was all about.
There will be a lot of upset (former) regulars who will hopefully loudly express their displeasure.
I would suggest that anyone stopping in ask where the single deck games are. If they try to steer you to a 6:5 game, laugh and say something like, "Do I look like an idiot?"
Then leave.

The Rancho Fiesta has been unbelievably paranoid about their single deck game ever since they brought it back. Any spread at all will result in a quick boot. At least they're polite about it.

Speaking of major heat . . .

Brick Waller: Harrah's will lose $$$
Horseshoe use to have alot of regular lumps lose thousands at single deck. So Harrah's thinks "oh,these ploppies will come back and play 6/5 single deck." The ploppies will simply mosey over to the other downtown casinos that offer traditional blackjack and lose their money.
Unbelievable, a huge company like Harrah's wont offer a game that Horseshoe became legendary for having. They may as well change the name of the Horseshoe while they're at it,because it sure wont be the same.

mr bojangles: Re: Harrah's will lose $$$
Harrah's are trying hard to continue to Horseshoe legacy ( of recent years) and are running the place into the ground LOL
On a more serious note, we hae al better hope the shoe 6/5 does not take off otherwise others may well follow suit.

Victoria: No surprise at all
I mean, remember it is Harrahs now!

Parker: True

Yeah, I know. Anybody besides me remember when the Rio actually was a pretty cool place to play?
Still, with all the talk about "preserving the Horseshoe legacy," I held on to a small amount of hope.
Silly me.

Very true. One of the reasons that I enjoyed playing there was that I usually recognized most of the people frequenting the quarter tables. Most of them weren't card counters, they were just people whom I saw in there all the time.
They were, however, smart enough to know that 6:5 games are a ripoff (they used to joke about the games across the street at the Nugget), and I doubt that they'll be much impressed with DD games with 50% pen. Most of these people played serious money.
There was also a sizeable group of Asians that would stay at the Fremont or California, but play at the Horseshoe because of the good single deck games.
They will go elsewhere.

You think this is bad, wait till you see the "new Horseshoe" that they plan to build on the strip in a few years since Harrah's now owns the Horseshoe name everywhere. I don't have any info, but I can imagine.

method: s.coast was for fun only not playing *NM*
-
Parker: What sort of "fun"?
I admit that my idea of "fun" at a casino is relieving them of some of their money at the tables.
Nonetheless, if I wanted to go somewhere to admire the, ahem, "scenery," I would go to the Hard Rock.
What is the allure here?

methodman: Re: "fun"

Yes fun is seeing the sights and having great food. S.Coast offers both.
