    Terry: comps downtown

I'm getting free rooms from The Fitz as well as a slot tournament in Dec. I'm primarily a VP abd craps player. Beyond free rooms, what should i expect compwise? How often can you eat in one buffet or steak house. I guess I'm god for 4K per day.

Gee, I'd be god for considerably less than that - where do I sign up? :-)

Sorry - I know it's bad form to make fun of someone's typo, but sometimes I can't resist.

Seriously, that amount of VP play should get you just about anything you want there.

Although you may not want it. The buffet is one of the smallest and least elaborate of any downtown, and the coffee shop is nothing memorable, either.

They have a new deli that I actually like better than the coffee shop, although it is not open 24 hours.

Limerick's Steakhouse is a decent enough steak house, although not the best downtown (that would be Binion's).

Fitzgeralds' players club works on a point system. You earn "O'Lucky Bucks" and then use your players card just like a credit card. You can check your balance by inserting your card in any slot or VP machine.

I believe you can also use O'Lucky Bucks for gift shop purchases.

I should mention that I have not used the comp system recently, and new owner Don Barden (Majestic Star) may have made some changes.

They have some small shows there, but not much comp value since they are free (one drink minimum).

Hip Hop: Across the street question

Terry asked how ofter you could eat at the buffet and coffee shop. I've come across a strange rule at Binions a couple of times where I've been denied a coffee shop comp because it was the second one in a 24 hour period. I argued with the pit that all it would do is chase me to another casino for my lunch but to no avail. Is this a common rule downtown? It didn't seem to impact the steakhouse or the now defunct Gee Joon just two comps at the coffee shop. Parker (or anyone else) have you met with this argument?

    Thanks,

    Hip Hop

I have never heard of such a thing, and I have been eating comped meals at the 'Shoe since . . . well, since when Benny was still alive. On countless occasions I have eaten two meals in the coffee shop the same day.

BTW, Gee Joon is no longer defunct - it re-opened right before the World Series of Poker, and has been serving ever since, good as ever.

Yes, I get the same 24hr rule when I play poker there. It must be their way of controlling the comps but, as you say, it is very inefficient in a lot of cases.

    Best regards
