Wamprat: Informal poll On Best/ Worst BJ in Vegas

Just thought I'd get a sampling of readers thoughts on the Best places to play and the most foul places to try to win a buck.

Based on the following categories, Rules/pen, Casino Atmosphere, Sweatiness of pit, and of course the most important factor in winning CW uniforms.

Thanks, have some fun with this!

I'll start it off with my favorite - the *Dust. Rules are worsening but they still have a DD game wherein Dealer stands on soft 17, at the $10 level, 55+% penetration. Love the oldies muzak, minimal heat spreading 1-10 and the CW uniforms, like most of the CW's, are plain - so as to facilitate that Ace side count! If that's what I wanna look at I'll do it on my non-table time . . . can't wait to read other's contributions

Cocktail waitresses? Worst has to be The Luxor where several of them are well over 200 pounds.

Most inconsistent has to be the 'Shoe. Service is either great or non-existent. You never know.

    Wamprat: My Impressions

I thought there would be dozens of replies to this! Anyway thanks to the first two replies.

I'll add my own to get the ball rolling.

I like the Golden Gate. I can usualy find a good single deck game there, the table limits are usually low enough so that if I just want to pop in for a short session with a $40 buy in, I can.

The staff is friendly and the CWs are charming matronly types - A strange contrast to the supermodels on the strip. This is one of the few places that serves Tecate beer in town if you are inclined to drink.

There is a killer band that plays great jazz standards including the mighty Miles Davis.

The mix of clientele is often pretty comical; Fanny packing neophytes sitting next to six day binge boozehounds from the bus station across the street always makes for a an interesting sociological study.

Winner of Strangest CW experience the city has to offer by far: Across the street at the Las Vegas club- 60-somthing women in cheerleader outfits. Yikes!

OK lets have more of these reports in!

I second the Dust for DD. They do not use a "cut-card", but rather, the Dealer is supposed to deal out about 1/2 of the cards, then shuffle. With proper tipping, with certain dealers, pen. towards the 70% range is not uncommon. Also, same dealer usually works the same table each shift...therefore, when you find an "understanding" dealer, then he/she comes right back to you, after each break...none of that chasing the dealer from table-to-table stuff.

Played "too many" hours there recently, but by flipping 2:1 hands, got away with 10:1 spread, no heat, and "full" comps.

CW's were already old when I first started going there 20 years ago...and the same ones are still there! But if you look closely at their cleavage, you can see their navel! Seriously, though, drink service is Excellent (if you tip)...my "regular" girls know my poison and my pace, and usually are planting a full-one down just as I finish the previous.

On the down-side of the Dust:
-----1. Some of their DD is H17, and some S17...be careful to get the best one when possible.
-----2. On SF21, if you start playing 2 spots, they expect you to keep playing 2 until the shuffle...will not let you go 2:1 or 1:2. FURTHER, on one shift, I was playing 1 spot, the count tanked, and I passed playing the next hand.
The PC told me that I had to keep playing until the shuffle. He did not answer me when I asked "If I run out of $, can I keep playing for free?". The next night, I just got up and went to the "can" when Counts diminished excessively, and they did not say anything...probably thought I had a contagious health condition, based on my frequent absences!
