    Randy: Palace Station

We got free airfare and hotel to Vegas for attending a sales pitch for vacation condos. They are going to put us up at Palace Station. Can anyone tell me anything about the hotel, food, pool and of course the blackjack? I heard they have a shuttle out to the strip. Anyone know where it goes?

    Thanks,

    Randy

Palace Station is a typical Station casino. Rooms are large enough and comfortable, but nothing super-fancy. You want a "tower-room" which is a room in the main tower in the same building as the casino. The "garden rooms" are in a separate motel-like building across the parking lot. They are older and smaller.

Restaurants are okay - there is a 24 hr coffee shop, a buffet, a Mexican place, an Italian place, and a steak house. I've only eaten at the Mexican place, and it was quite good (although not as good as Gardunos at the Rancho Fiesta).

There are two pools - again nothing fancy or exotic.

The blackjack is the usual Station offerings: double deck with H17, DAS, RSA and 50% pen (some dealers do a little better - shop around), and six deck shoes with poor rules (H17, no surrender) and mediocre (70%) pen.

Also SuperFun 21 and 6:5 single deck, but who cares?

The shuttle runs 9:00 am - midnite, and goes to Fashion Show Mall, which is on the north part of the strip between Treasure Island and the Frontier.

Can you get off the shuttle anywhere but the fashion mall?

    Thanks Parker

I don't think so, although it has been a long time since I have used this shuttle.

I believe that they now also run a separate shuttle to/from the airport.

You might want to simply call Palace Station on their 800# and ask them.

You may have had "good luck" and "lots of fun" but you were obviously not counting cards and/or using any sort of bet spread, otherwise you would have found the atmosphere anything but "relaxed."

Coast casinos are some of the worst sweatboxes in Las Vegas. Barbary Coast is the worst, but all Coast casinos are bad.

Kind of silly, considering that the game, with its 50% penetration, is borderline unplayable at best.
