    bakra: lost two S.D.

I played at Ceasars last week, and it was fun... not. I experienced a super whipeout where I lost my session bankroll and, as the count was still skyhigh and my hour was not up yet, most of my other session bankroll too. All the high cards were at the end of the shoe but I did not get any %-(

Anyway, I did the math when I returned and I managed to loose a two S.D. compared to my expected value. That occurres only 5% of the trips according to the theory, but it's kinda nasty it happened at my first Vegas trip.

At least I was comped a free dinner ;-), but I payed for quite a few bricks of the new building Ceasars is constructing!

Now you know why more people aren't doing this. :-)

In a way, it may be a Good Thing that this happened to you. I was a big winner my first couple of trips to Las Vegas after learning to count. I felt like I had found the keys to the ATM! I was almost ready to quit the "day job" and turn pro.

The next few trips took care of that fantasy. :-)

I hate to make you feel worse, but, in fact, a 2-SD loss occurs only 2.28% of the time, or once every 44 trips or so. That it happened to you right out of the box is, indeed, quite unfortunate.

    Better luck next time!

    Or not.

Now he should have upwards of 88 trips before it happens again.

    Let's deal them cards!!

I hope you're joking, SR. We all know he still has a 1 in 44 chance of it happening on his very next trip.

On the flip side, he also has a 1 in 44 chance of being 2 SDs on the OTHER side of the bell curve! :-)
