    jack fate: Red to green.

I am currently a red chip player. My bank now allows me to go to green. On trips to Vegas in the past I have spread 6 or 8 to 1 with no heat.I mostly play downtown. Now that I am going to green will I need to change venues or alter spread to stay under the radar.Thanks.

going from red to green is like going from your girlfriend to a playmate.that great act you thought you had while playing green-it wasnt great.no one was paying attention to you.25 to 200 wont fly.you will have to lower it.

At the EC, 4 (or even sometimes 2 or 3) green will get you a halitosis-laden PC standing next to you. At the GN you will be largely unnoticed. The other places fall inbetween -- but keeping your max just under $100 will go along way toward avoiding rising temperatures.

If you plan to spread to 8 green chips ($200), I suggest you now upgrade your play to Strip casinos. You'll be much more likely to play unnoticed, and you'll be able to wipe some of the downtown sleaze off of you! :-)

Too true, Don. I recently made the red-to-green switch myself and I gotta say it's a much more pleasant experience playing the quarter tables on the strip than playing the nickel tables downtown. Also, most double deck games on the strip allow DAS, which is something you won't find anywhere downtown.

    Rock on.

Attempting to bet 8 green will first require a table fill.

Two things I have always done is keep my sessions short and keep records.Over the past couple years my win rate comes to 2.61 units per hour, which I am happy with.Because of the way I get the money on the table I can normaly go 4 to 1 on SD, 6 to1 on DD and 8 to 1 on shoes. If I lower my spread I would expect my win rate to also go down. yes? Bottom line to me is wwhat I earn per hour played. Can I earn more spreading 4 to 1 green than 8 to 1 red? Thanks To all for your imput.

    jac: not true

It all depends on the conditions, casinos, who's betting what at the tables, how's everybody acting, etc. I've seen some gamblers do some crazy things at the table. I spread from 1 green to 2 hands of 8 (1-16) many times against the shoe. Let's remember something, it's not that often a a total max bet is called for. You ever sat at a table and never had a chance to make a nice bet because the count seems to be in a stagnat motion? Anyone who says no, isn't a card counter. Actually, many times I'm the low roller of the table making 1 unit bets. On several occasions I've seen dealers dumping in negative counts while the ploppies where having a ball stacking up bets and winning while I'm betting only one unit. I've even had ploppies laughing at me for not betting more.

Can one really do 10-80 at the 2D at the GN?

From my experience, I think anyone who gets backed off for 10-80 at the GN needs to take a very hard look at their act. I employ minimal but effective cover (cost of $1 EV/hr) and can play more aggressively than 10-80 for 2 or 3 betting cycles (going from min to max bet).
