    There's no question that the AMD I had ran sims faster than Intel chips. Up until it melted

    I do wish CNet had waited month. I'd like to see how Intel's new Presler chips due out in January perform. And how much less heat they create.

    Yes, I saw that - interesting. I've been using AMD cpu's in my desktop systems for many years. I've always liked them because they represented a good value; now they seem to be actually outperforming Intel, regardless of price. My next desktop system will probably feature one of the dual-core 64 bit AMD units. Probably not anytime soon, as my XP-3000 system still seems perfectly adequate for my needs.

    Now, if AMD could just get its act together when it comes to laptops!

    They are having a sale at Costco now on them.
