paranoid android: Way off topic question for Don or English majors

Sorry for posting this here, but thought it best to post it in this forum since it is less often used than the others.

I'm having a debate with a friend over the words averse and adverse. Since I've seen you correct peoples' misuse of the word "adverse" (when they should be saying "risk averse") I thought you'd be a good authority to settle this matter.

In the sentence "I'm not a(d)verse to dating tall women", I believe the proper word should be "averse" while she claims it should be "adverse". Who is correct?

Sorry again for posting this here. Thanks.

You are. But, telling her she's wrong may bring about some adverse consequences for you! :-)
