scarygary: What is the best way to set up a wireless network?
What type is the best internet connection for the base unit? Is it DSL or cable or something else?

Cable or DSL will work equally well. I don't know what else you could use, unless you can afford to run a T1 line into your house. Setting up a wireless network (or any type of network) on a dial-up connection is impractical.
Hookup is quite simple - you just plug the output from the DSL or cable "modem" into the base unit and turn it on.
The WLAN cards are installed into your computers just like a regular ethernet card. They will come with a driver and a utility that you will need to install in your computers. The utility will scan for the base unit and allow you to connect.
The base unit is configured from one of the local computers on the network by using a web browser and entering the IP address of the base unit.
All this is explained in the literature that comes with the hardware.
Be sure to turn on encryption unless you feel like providing free Internet access to your neighbors! :-)
