    Soft17: BJRM question

In BJRM, for analysis of single deck games using HiLo count, why are the frequencies for TCs of 3 and 7 zero? Wouldn't this introduce a significant error in calculations?

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks,

The short answer is: see BJA, pp. 181-82, for a thorough, detailed explanation of this. I'll assume you don't have the book.

True count was calculated for SD by dividing by the number of quarter-decks remaining and then truncating the true count. And we assumed two players at the table Under that premise, it is impossible to truncate true counts and to produce values of +3 or +7.

Try some examples of running counts and quarter-decks remaining to convince yourself of this.

Oh, I get it. That's a cool math wrinkle!

    Thanks for the explanation Don.
