    Maverick2: First trip to Reno

I'm planning my first trip to Reno in January.
My tentative plan is to stay at the Atlantis, and to make trips to the Peppermill and Boomtown.

I play red chips with a spread of one to five.

    Any suggestions?

Yes, read the series of posts in this topic that begin with "Reno is going downhill" and all the subordinate posts. They started on December 5.

The Atlantis is now my favorite casino. The extra cost of a concierge room is worth it to me. The best of the many extras is internet access in the concierge lounge. Their Seafood Steakhouse is overrated.

Boomtown is quite a drive from south Virginia Street and not that much different.

Unless you are way too obvious about it, you will attract no heat at Peppermill at our level (red with a 1-5 spread).

Consider a side trip to Sparks and visit John Asquagua's Nugget.

I don't think you will find anything worthwhile downtown. It is pretty much all double only on 10 and 11.

Speaking of doubling, watch the color of the tables at the Atlantis - green is double only on 10 or 11, blue felt is double on any first two cards.
