    Parker: Impossible to say

    > Does the GN in Laughlin have the best game
    > in Nevada?

    Short answer: No.

Longer answer: Due to the variety of playing styles and betting levels, it is impossible to name a single game or casino as the "best" for everyone. What may be an excellent game for a red chip bettor may be totally unplayable for someone betting black and above (and vice-versa).

At any rate, the single deck game at the Laughlin GN is no better than that found in any number of casinos in northern Nevada, and the shoe games are are inferior to many of the games on the Las Vegas strip.

Anything above red action will draw a lot of attention anywhere in Laughlin.

There is no DAS at SD in Wendover. Some at Reno have this? Might have to make a trip there.
I am only a red better so I should have specified that condition.
    Here is a Laughlin report.
    Pion.
No single deck when I was there. Double on 10 and 11 only. Stay away.
    EW.

Two single deck tables at $5. Crowded. Go on off hours.
    RS.

Many open $5 SD tables on weekend but D10.
    GN.

Three SD tables $10. Good rules.

    kiosk: mesquite!

all four casinos in mesquite NV have one table each dealing 3:2 single deck with DAS. seems to be excellent penetration all around, no idea about heat and no, I've never been there.

the only places with better rules in america would be barona, boomtown new orleans and horseshoe bossier city. two indian stores in new mexico also deal mesquite rules, 1 table each.

mathematically speaking, laughlin has no playable BJ except for single deckers at nugget and edgewater.

wendover looks decent. resplit aces and/or bonus payouts depending where you play.

I have played many hours in Mesquite and Wendover. Wendover is better with so many SD tables to choose from. The ones in Mesquite stay crowded. GN in Laughlin is better with three tables.

Little heat for under $100 bet. I have watched pretty blatant CC get away with it for a long time spreading 10-100.
Sucks for me to say this but I think the Western is the best red chip place in Vegas.

I gotcha...when you said you were red chip I didn't know if you were spreading or just playing basic strat. the 20+ tables at each of the peppermills in wendover certainly would make it easier to hop around. any other reason(s) why you would single out the GN laughlin as a superior play?

there's a stereotype that there are still plenty of good 'ol single deckers dealt in downtown LV but that probably hasn't been true for at least a year or so, if not longer. except for the western and las vegas club, virtually all the other stores have converted to 6:5 or superfun format, if not eliminating single deck completely. double pitch games are the tables of choice nowadays.

it might be a weird irony that the downtown casinos could probably still deal 3:2 single deck if they raised the table minimums, but their typical patrons couldn't afford it and the casinos themselves wouldn't be able to tolerate action from anyone who actually knew what they were doing.

That is true at many of the Casinos. The GN usually has higher min. than the other casinos. And I drew alot of eyes towards me when I bet green there.

THe thing about Laughlin is that it is a sleepy town, the dirt poor man's version of Las Vegas. People that come to play here do so because they can't afford Vegas.

That said... the best game in Laughlin if you bet green or black is about an hour and a half north .... in Vegas... if you are betting red and crave single deck, The Golden Nugget, and Riverside are OK. Riverside actually "allows" card counting to a point. As long as you don't raise your bet to 3X your previous one.. ie you just bet 2 reds the most you could bet would be 5 reds and 4 silver or else they shuffle.

But with the D10 rule there it is hard to make any headway. Seems like I got a lot of soft hands when I played there.

Better to hit the EW at a slow time.

On a better note the West in LV was very nice to me. Anybody getting much heat there for red play?

    Wolverine: Laughlin

I can only add to this conversation that I enjoyed my weekend in Laughlin using advantage play. I bet black in LV, but in Laughlin green was well tolerated when I played that way from the start AND I could spread without any problems. I rarely graduated from reds to greens due to the fear of heat if I just sat down to red-chip for a while on $100. I played in many of the casinos noted here and found them all to be just fine (with the risks noted--some D10, all NDAS, etc...) especially given the lack of supervision. There were many "double or triple the $100 within a few minutes sessions" and then hit another table or casino to start again.

I also enjoyed the low limit, high odds craps tables so that I could look like a "gambler" and not a card counting wiseguy out to make a killing in the casino at BJ.
