addicted?: no-bust blackjack in san diego
north county san diego has a card room called ocean's 11 (not on an indian reservation so i guess they can't have real blackjack) that has "no bust blackjack." i haven't made the trip yet, so i don't know the specifics of how the dealer has to play, but basically if you get 22 and the dealer gets 23, you win. not much info on their site (http://www.oceans11.com/21centht.htm), anyone have any clues as to if this is a good game or not? it's obviously not really blackjack, but...

It's called 21st Century Blackjack and is a joke. There are two jokers per deck. Two jokers is a "natural" and pays 2:1 unless the dealer also has a "natural," in which case it is a push. All other payouts are even money. A blackjack is just another 21. If both the player and the dealer exceed 21, the lower total wins.
To make matters even worse, the game is player-banked, meaning that you must pay a commission or ante on every hand you play, win or lose.
Finally, all tables are CSM.
Don't waste your time. Pala, Harrah's and Valley View are less than an hour's drive away.
If you must play there, play poker.
Too bad, really. The place has a catchy name.
