sgduke: Strategy charts do not work

Do you know about those online strategy charts that promise to help you win at Blackjack?
Well, they don't really work. I have done a simulation to prove it:

No reputable purveyor of strategy charts (including this website - see our online catalog) claims that they will enable you to beat the house. Hell, many casinos sell strategy cards in their gift shops.

What they do is minimize the house advantage - you will not win money in the long run, merely lose money more slowly - exactly as your simulation showed.

In order to actually overcome the house advantage you will need to learn card counting or some other form of advantage play.

I'm glad that your simulation was helpful in your studies, but you should know that you are re-inventing the wheel. Early simulations of blackjack were run over 40 years ago on IBM mainframes, and the results published in books such as "Playing Blackjack as a Business" by Lawrence Revere.

Today, you can buy sophisticated simulators such as CVData (available from our online catalog), which take every possible rule variation into consideration and can run literally billions of hands in a relatively short time period.

Take a look around here - check out the FAQ.

    You might learn something. :-)

About Blackjack: The Forum

BJTF is an advantage player site based on the principles of comity. That is, civil and considerate behavior for the mutual benefit of all involved. The goal of advantage play is the legal extraction of funds from gaming establishments by gaining a mathematic advantage and developing the skills required to use that advantage. To maximize our success, it is important to understand that we are all on the same side. Personal conflicts simply get in the way of our goals.
