    brandnewtobj: Heads up play.

When is a good time to play heads up with the dealer. I wanted to last Saturday night, I found a nice table, cards all fanned out with the dealer looking very bored. I sat down, her face lit up, do you want to play? I said yes, but by the time she shuffled, the table was full. I ended up playing about 4 hours at that table. But, it was consistently full. The game moved at a very slow pace, too slowly, I was probably only getting about 60 hands per hour, it was very boring. I need a speedier game, which means fewer players.

In most situations heads up is nice because of more hands per hour. However, the problem often is when you start a table alone other players will show up and they always show up when it gets good. (This is mathmatically provable using some sort of log algorithm LOL, joking)

First, are you ready to play heads up? Some dealers will get you 200+ hands an hour, and talk to you the whole time you are playing (and expect you to talk back). Just asking because of your handle, not making a judgement on your skills at all.

Secondly, to answer your question: think OPPOSITE of every other civilian player. a) Play at prime dinner time when there are less players on the casino floor and more in the dining establishments. b) play when the civilian is sleeping (4 am to 10 am for example). c) do NOT play on Friday and Saturday nights, aka Prime Time. d) if playing on the Strip, avoid the BIG shows and conventions (NFR, Comdex, etc...) which bring in a lot of people/players.

Those are some examples, I'm sure you can come up with more just by thinking OPPOSITE of a normal person.

Good luck finding that one-on-one matchup you want.

Only one way to find out. If I can get the 200+ hands per hour with decent penetration, that should help me reach the long run sooner. I am learning that one needs patience to prevail at this game, I just hope my patience doesn't run out.

Those are some awkward times to play, although, I like the idea of playing early in the morning when I am nice and sharp.

When else would you expect to gets heads-up? You need a dearth of players available to play, and those are the times that happens.

Good cards, good luck, and good patience.
